Stila Eye Shadow Trio - Gold Glow

October 31, 2009

I have been wanting to blog about this for so long... I couldn't find my old pics when I was looking up in my achieves yesterday. So since I was playing with my eyeshadows, I decided to take my ugly eyeshadow pics for you to see.. to celebrate Halloween (since it's fugly and spooky, sort of..)

I got this set around May this year (I know I'm late) when I was joining a spree in LYN, and that was way before Stila got pulled out from Malaysia, so lucky me. :P

Here's the eyeshadow.. (pardon the freaky lighting.. it looks pretty dark here...)

When I first got the item, it looked so pretty !

How can you just not loved the look of it...

But when I tried to open the thing.. argh..crazy I tell you...

I had such a hard time opening the eye shadow. The way Stila packaged this eyeshadow is insane.. -_-

I don't know about them but I just don't understand why on earth they packaged it this way.. in an old crappy cardboard packaging -_-

Because of the packaging, my nail went straight into the pot when I was trying to push it open. Sigh~

The swatch:

The Product: .17oz / 5g
Price: $28 (from Sephora)
Colors available: 3 in total (Bronze Glow, Champagne Glow and Gold Glow)
Made in: Italy

From Sephora's website:

Eye Shadow Trio
Let your lids look like they've been lying in the sun. Designed to be applied either wet or dry, this eyeshadow trio is baked on a terra cotta disk for a sheer, never chalky, application. The bronze trio features three different tonal shades for use as a base, crease shadow, and eyeliner.

My thoughts about it:
I don't dislike it and neither I'm loving it. It looks really pigmented and it is pigmented. It doesn't feel glittery but it is shimmery. Not too powdery or chalky either. It does shows up nicely on skin and what I like about it is the "highlighter" color. It's glowy but not too overboard.

Cons?
I'm not sure if it's me or what, but I find it a little hard to get it show up in my skin. I have to swipe several times with my brush to get the color out onto my skin. But when I swipe it on my finger, the damn color showed up. -_- Weird. Another cons about it is the price, for $28, this is freaking expensive! Even though it is "baked" , but still the price tag is killing me. I wouldn't have bought this if I have to buy this individually.

Before I forget, here's a little spooky "eotd" I"m trying to come up with.. I was actually playing with my scotch tape to get the "clean" line of it. :) Pardon the mess about the liner. :P

Before I forget, Happy Halloween People! :D

Covergirl Lash Exact Mascara

October 25, 2009

I didn't know about Covergirl cosmetics until I watched America's Next Top Model hosted by Tyra Banks. And I got this mascara way earlier before I watched ANTM from a friend in Canada since she did some good reviews on it before. Talk about temptations... hmm.. :P

The packaging was exactly like the above, but when I search in Covergirl's website, the picture looked even better and more "canggih" looking!

* pic from Covergirl website.

From the website:
Get no clump, no glob, beautifully-defined lashes. The LashExact brush is a patented technology with bristles that are aligned and clean, so you get the Exact look you want. Also available in Waterproof.

Here's how mine looks like...

Behind the box...

*No clumps on the Brush means no Clumps on the Lashes, for a DEFINED and LONG lash look!* sounds like a slogan to me :P

The brush...

When I look back at the pictures, the bristles of the wand is purple.. so I went back to my mascara and wipe them off for you to see whether if it's purple ..

*tadaaa....*

Yes it is purple! But I don't know why they make it like that.. maybe it's the marketing strategy to attract buyers like me.. :P

Here's some pictures for justice! :P

*from the pic:
I don't use eye curler prior to this.. and also, I've quite short lash until you can't really see them in real life (see the first pic for justice ! =P )

I got this in 900 - Very black. It looks normal black to me.. same like my other black mascaras. I think my lash exact is the waterproof one.

The Product: 4ml
Colors available in total: 4 colors, 2 type of blacks & 2 types of brown (from Covergirl's website)
Manufactured in: US

My thoughts about it:
The first thing that draws itself to me is the wand. The wand is so unique in the first place. And it's in purple! (I always fell for the product packaging :P) One thing that is unique from my other mascaras is the rubber bristles that is attached to it. Unlike my other mascaras, this wand is soft and rubbery. It is not stiff like my other mascaras and you don't feel the "tough" pressure when you swipe it onto the lashes. Other than that, it also separates my lashes nicely and this mascara dries off pretty quickly too! I also give them some plus point for no smudging as well! :)

Cons?
Sometimes this mascara gave me a hard time. I had to swipe a few times to get my lashes curled up nicely. And when you have multiple swipes on it, the lashes became messy and "heavy weight" (my lashes are already short and this makes it even worst -_-") . In the end, it doesn't give any defination at all. The other thing is that it doesn't really do a good job in curling. I have to get my eye curler to do the job prior to the mascara application. Covergirl cosmetics is also not available in Malaysia, so I think it's another problem to get them.

Will I buy it again?
Nope, I don't think so. The wand is great but if the mascara doesn't do the job, I wouldn't want to spend my money on this just to get the "feel" of the mascara wand. I read reviews on Covergirl's Lash Blast and I think they might do a better job than this one. :)

The ingredients..

So, have you owned any Covergirl mascaras? Let me know, maybe I can chuck this off already. :P

Nail Hansen @ Queensbay Penang

October 21, 2009

Okay, to start off, this is just a random post that I wanted to share. Cuz' it is my first time. *shyyyy* :P

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I went to Nail Hansen (in Queensbay Penang) last Wednesday, which is something I never did before in my whole life - Mani & Pedi. Serious.

I neither do my own nails as well. Other than cutting my own nails twice a month (maybe..). I really do envy people that did their own nails, like Nikki and also Ashley.

Not that I never try, I tried but with my shaky piggy hands, I have to re-do almost every nail because I failed miserably. Either the nail color looks messy, or the color doesn't like my nail. -_-Or maybe in other words, "lazy" :P

Since I got about 2 hours time before I meet up with my colleagues for lunch, I opted to go for a quick (sort of..) nail "spa" at Nail Hansen.

And here's what I got at the end of the whole spa session. *Please excuse my fugly foot pics XD*

I have ugly feet but I like the floweeerrr :D

The flower design is free when you do both mani and pedi spa. :)

I don't have a decent photo for these because I just took them for the sake of my "first time". XD

Then my fingerssssss.

*gosh, I just noticed my "hand wrinkles" ... :( *

Shiny shiny bling bling :D

And here's how it looks like after 4 days (on Sunday).

Still looks okay. But my toe nails doesn't look nice already. Because orang kasar ma. What to do.. :P

I did the "spa" or they called them "treatment" for hands & feet, which cost RM100. The lady there said this is their current promotion (which I don't know when they will end..) and she mentioned that treatment for feet only originally was RM80 wor... The treatment for hands was RM60, so add both was RM80 + RM60 = RM140, and now it is RM40 ringgit cheaper.

Overall, the experience was good. They scrub, cut, trim my toe and finger nails. I can imagine 20+++++ years of not maintaining them is.... $%$^$&^%! LOL! They also did soak my hands and feet into their parrafin wax. So hot can! -_-

This was really something for me. At least now you ask me about mani & pedi, I sure got the experience in them already! HAHAHA. I would pamper myself once in a while, but on a regular basis.. erm, maybe next time. ;)

L'egere Multi White BB Cream Review

October 17, 2009

To start off, I am not a liquid/cream foundation person. I dislike the double work (liquid/cream foundation + loose powder) that I have to do to my face. The "blending" process with them also takes up a lot of time for me (imagine the morning rush hour...).

But after using this L'egere BB cream, my perception towards the above statement changed, almost drastically. =_= I know BB creams are different compared to liquid foundation but to me, but the way to apply them are the same.

I almost nearly wanted to break off with my MAC Mineralized loose foundation. >.<

Anyway, I got this baby 2 months ago from fiobeauty which comes with some "gold" serum...
*I haven't use the serum yet coz I don't really know what to do with it :P*

Here's how it looks like....

See the gold flecks? I read from somewhere that "gold" may not work for everyone, so I'm still leaving this aside for now. :)So, let's move them aside. :D

Seriously, these L'egere brand has been widely introduced by Queen before. I think they did came to Malaysia to promote them in JB (correct me if I'm wrong).

The back instructions. Let me know if you need some translation done. :)

The small "instruction" page that comes with it.

Up close.

If you don't know, L'egere has two types. One is the water drop shiny pearl version (in hot pink) and the multi white one (which I'm using).

The instructions ....

*Seriously, I don't recommend sponge, coz it soaks up lots of BB cream with it.. such a waste! ~tsk tsk *

Let's move on with the interesting stuff :D

Seriously, they are quite big in size.

And the squeezable tube that is sealed tightly.

Here comes the swatches! :D

So dark right? But fear not! Coz when you rub it....

The color sunks into the skin.. and became lighter! Magical huh? :P

And I tell you, I tried to capture under many lightings to get the correct outcome of it. And it is so tiring. >.<

1. Under white light (snapped it in my office, shhhh :P )

2. Another one, but looking weird here.. color contrast I guess. =_= But see, where's my fugly pores?! :D

(I've lightly dusted loose powder on top and my blusher..)

This is the one I've taken them outdoor, with only the BB cream itself.

I used my foundation brush with it because I thought it might be easier to spread than using my fingers.. In the end, I see "streaks" of BB cream :P *lazy to blend properly :P*

See how it glows on my skin? Love it :D

Anyway, here's what I think of it..

The Product: 50g
Price that I bought this: RM60 (from Fiobeauty.com)
Manufactured in: Korea

My thoughts for this product:
In short, BB cream is Moisturizer + Sunblock + Makeup Base + Foundation. But I'm not sure why L'egere stated that it has 10 in 1 functions with this. 6 skin care basic + 4 face make up functions. If these were so great, then we might just throw away all our skin care + make up and use only this BB cream alone. =_=

I used this L'egere White Multi BB cream right after all my skincare and after sunblock.
*Wash face - Toner - Serum - Moisturizer - Sunblock - L'egere BB cream - Laura Mercier loose powder*
I know some people use BB creams right after moisturizer. But for me, BB cream is categorized as makeup as it has foundation in it, so it is best to use them right after sunblock is applied.

I'm a NW20 for MAC's Studio Sculpt (I'll do a review and compare against this as I find them both quite alike ), and a light medium for MAC's mineralized loose foundation. So you see, I'm on a fair-natural side. My Revlon foundation color are 200 Nude. If you asked me if this L'egere is for dark skin ladies, I don't quite think so. I think this works fairly well for people with NC / NW20 - NC/NW 30 lor. :)

Pros IMPO:
- Easy to blend, coz it is not too creamy. But I recommend to use fingers gently massage a little bit first on the back of the palm before applying to the face. (I don't recommend massage and rubbing the product straight onto the skin because these are not skincare)
- No fragrance added, but a very very slight plastic scent.
- Stays "intact" to my skin, adds glow to it, so these are not matte-finish.
- Does not clog my skin *touch wood* (but also depends on how each person takes off their makeup)
- Quite affordable compared to other brands like BRTC.
- Covers up my undereye well. I can save up concealers here! :D

Cons IMPO:
- Not available in Malaysia. Have to look for local spreers or on-line stores to pre-order them.

Overall, L'egere did quite a good job on what it is suppose to do. I haven't tried the water drop shiny pearl version yet, but I think the other one should be more watery than the Multi white version. I think for RM60 per tube, it is quite affordable and a little goes a long way too! :)

Do let me know your thoughts if any one of you have tried them before! ;)

NYX Round Lip Gloss - Ballerina Pink

October 11, 2009

*pic from cherryculture.com*

Before I start, apologized for the long MIA. Reason being is because I'm too lazy, and when I "tried" to review something, I end up changing the layout of my blog. -_-" Until it became weird-looking thing. *sighz*

Anyway, since I'm back, these were my haul of NYX round lipglosses from Nonpareilboutique :D

Haven't tried all of these yet, was thinking not to coz I end up tossing them aside. -_-

Here's the flavour that I've tested - Ballerina Pink!

I think this color suits fair ladies but doesn't seem okay with me coz I have thick lips :X

The reason being why I have chosen this was because of the name - Ballerina Pink. I'm a sucka for ballet or dancing term items, such as Dance Tee, bags with Pointe shoes pictures... argh... irrisistable! I even had one MAC lipglass called En Pointe. -_- hence my nickname in some forums are enpointe. :P

The color from the gloss really looks the same when swatched. Too bad the website's swatches are lousy. :P

*made in Taiwan some more*

See the applicator? Doe-foot shaped. Glides on smoothly on the lips like nobody's business. :P

Here's a clearer picture of the swatch. This color contains little shimmers to it. Very pretty.

The Product: 2.5ml / 0.085oz (sounds little but it sure contains quite a bit)
Price that I bought this: $2 (stated from the Nonpareil Boutique)

My thoughts for this product:
I like it. If you hate those uber stickiness from MAC lipglasses like me, then you'll love this one. It feels "wet" on the lips and not sticky on the lips. Glides on smoothly like a charm! This lipgloss does not gives shine to the lips (or I called them "wet look"), so ...don't expect them to look uber glossy on the lips!

Cons? Nil so far. I know some bloggers do comment about the lemon-bleach scent kind of thing but to me, it doesn't bother me much. It does has a lemony smell but toleratable and it goes off quite quickly too. Other than that, no complains since it's affordable too! ;)

Overall, I'll buy them if I "ever" do run out of them (which I think it'll be many monthsssss from now) :)

The ingredients...

By the way, I got them by selecting their cheapest shipping method - USPS 1st Class mail Int'l that is $9.99 in case you are wondering. They wouldn't require any signature but it takes roughly about 2 weeks to arrive to your doorstep (in Malaysia) after posting. HTHs!

Til next time :D
