Cellnique Advanced Bio Renewal Masque Review

January 14, 2010

It's time to show some love, people!

This is how I show my love, to my skin, with Cellnique. :D

*I know a lot of beauty bloggers have raved about them before, so.. please don't fall asleep k? xD*

The product pic from Cellnique's webbie:

The product I got from the box.

Same pic as claimed from the Cellnique's website! :)

I believed all product are sealed with this kind of "quality-control" sticker too!

The back of the jar. *spot my peace sign? xD*

Double protection lid!

Here's Cellnique's pineapple-flavoured Advanced Bio Renewal Masque.

Sadly, the packaging looks huge from the outside, but the product is less from the inside. Or should I conclude that good stuff doesn't come in bulk? :/

Some info that might be useful to you:

Instructions:

And the most important info:-

Below are some information that I can get from Cellnique's Website.

It says:-
This unparalleled clay masque is formulated with bio-captured fresh fruit enzymes and acid complexes. Advanced Bio Renewal Masque effectively exfoliates dead skin cells, optimizing cellular renewal performance and deep pore cleansing, thus revealing a softer, fresher, and healthier skin.
The best of it is that it suits all skin types! Yay! And cure:-
• Dull • Uneven skin tone • Congestion • Pigmentation • Wrinkles • Discoloration • Open pores • Enlarged pores • Scars / Marks
Some yummy things that makes it more interesting! :D

Glycolic Acid (AHA) + Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA)

Glycolic acid, derived from sugar cane, is the most active and beneficial of the AHAs. When applied to the skin, glycolic acid penetrates deeper, below the superficial layers of skin, and breaks up the ’glue’ that holds dead skin cells. When using glycolic acid to counter acne, it is often combined with salicylic acid (BHA). While glycolic acid breaks up dead skin cells, salicylic acid removes these dead skin cells remove from the surface of the skin, opening pores and leaving skin feeling smooth and revitalized.

Bromelain (Pineapple Enzyme)

An enzyme derived from the pineapple plant, bromelain helps to digest keratin protein and promotes effective exfoliation. Removing dead skin cells results in smoother, brighter skin.

Marine Protein

A natural formulation of essential skin nutrients, marine protein helps retain moisture, elasticity and firmness of the skin, giving it a younger and radiant appearance.

Lactic Acid

Derived from milk, lactic acid is well-known for its skin hydrating properties as well as being a gentle AHA exfoliant, helping to re-texture the skin surface and stimulate cell renewal.

Malic Acid
An AHA fruit acid, derived from apples, to rejuvenate and improve skin condition by softening, increasing cell turnover and promoting circulation.

Price: $55.00 @ Cellnique.com or RM159 @ any Cellnique Authorized Dealers

My thoughts:
Well, I've actually tested it on 3 different skin (I do not meant I have 3 diff skins, lol!). My Boy, A Friend (TQVM :) ) and myself. I'll let the pictures do the talking first.

This was actually my first time using it! See how thick I layered them onto my skin!! After I saw Jenn's review, I knew that I was using abit too much.. hahaha!

My second time, lesser than before :P

Of coz by doing the masque, it's time for some crazy cam-whore sessions. Ho Ho!

Okay, back to my thoughts now. I actually don't categorized this as clay masque, coz it doesn't feel like it. It doesn't "hardened" or "dry up" after 10 mins (as instructed). And it also has little beads (or I called it scrub) in it. I supposed it's for the exfoliant process later on.

After 10 minutes, it is suggested to wet fingertips and gently massage for another 10 – 15 minutes using upwards and outwards circular movements. Well, I did massage but not for 10-15 minutes though! I was too numb to do it for so long, so I did it for about 3-5 minutes instead. :D

And the results?

This is my chin area btw, where I got obvious and stubborn bumps! See how much it clears off? Pic 2&3 is where I rinsed off the masque with water.

Here's how it works on my boy's face. (I actually dragged him to take this pic! So hard to get him to go on camera.. hahaha)

So, does it work for me?

Yes it does. It clears all those "bumpy roads" and whiteheads on the skin, very effectively! My skin feels all smooth and silky, as if there's a layer of "pearl powder" on top of my skin. :D

Cons?

The smell. Hahaha. It doesn't really bothers me, but the first time I had it on my skin, I feel a little somewhat "suffocated" with the pineapple smell! -_-" After a while, the smell faded abit though (or maybe my nose has already adapted to the smell of it :P).

However, my friend and my boy does feel the "sting" and the warm sensation when it is applied. But it doesn't cause any redness, so I guess it is the enzyme that is "busy working". So I guess this is the only concern that they have for the masque.

Overall, we loved the product and how smooth it makes the skin. Because this clears off my whiteheads and bumps, I can save on my face scrub coz' this can last for a few of days "silkyness". :D Downside of it is the price... I'm not sure if it can last for another 5 times though... :)

Thumbs up for Cellnique with their awesome product!

PS: This product can be purchased online too!

Is True Sheet Mask Review

August 8, 2009

How true is Is True mask?

I wasn't at all interested with these Taiwan mask until I tried them myself a few months ago.

And guess what, out of all those Taiwan sheet mask that I've tried (Beauty Diary, 心机美人, Hokkaido), I was pretty impressed with Is True masks.

Selling at about RM2.50 (or RM3.50) for each piece, they were quite affordable (if we compared them with Neutrogena's / Nivea's Sheet masks).

However, the only limitation of Is True is that they have only 3 flavours (or should I called them 3 types? ). Is True masks does not have unique flavors such as caviar extracts and bird nest (like we seen in 心机美人) . wink

And I loved this flavour below the most! Reason being is because the essence in this mask is soothing and make my skin feels hydrated and also my pimple scars get lighten after that (you'll see the results below).

Here's what you get if you got them...

( see the essence? yum yum for my skin! :P )

What I like about this mask is that : -
1. It fits my face shape nicely (neither too big nor too small).
2. The sheet mask essence is not too watery.
3. It does not contain strong fragrances. I do noticed some sheet mask has some sort of "sweet" smell / has too much of that flavour in it (which is a huge turnoff for me especially when you need to tolerate the whole 15-20 mins process of it.

Here's the "Before & After" process:

I'm not going to say that this mask works like magic because I believe all mask has it purposes which is mainly to hydrate and "gives treatment" to the skin. This is because I believe if we uses sheet masks everyday (or every other day), not only it will lightens our face pigmentation, but also helps keeping the "pimples" at bay.

Last but not least, the "ingredients" of the mask flavours.

So, have you tried anyone of these Taiwan brands of sheet mask yet? If not, you should give it a try! razz

Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque review

January 11, 2009

Because of this...

Photobucket

I went on and got one for myself.

The Original Mint Julep Masque

  • Helps dry up acne pimples
  • Rinses away blackheads
  • Helps shrink large pores

The original natural home treatment, developed by a dermatologist, that will actually dry up acne pimples, rinse away blackheads and even help shrink enlarged pores.

Simply apply Mint Julep Masque to your face and neck. Within minutes it firms and hardens, as its suction action draws out waste matter from the pores. Minutes later, rinse the masque away with warm water and a washcloth. After the masque is removed your skin will feel clean...refreshed and smooth.

Even for people who are fortunately free of skin problems, Mint Julep Masque is a refreshing facial treatment that relaxes tired muscles and eases tension lines on the face and neck.

The above three points really tempt me to try them out. And the results? Not too bad!

The ingredients of this so-call-miracle mask:

If you see the above, sulfur actually helps to dry the skin out and also does help drying up pimples.

The mask color - seaweed green...

And on me... LOL..(excuseeeeeeee the pores!)

Price:$3.99/8oz (From Drugstore) I got it for RM31

Overall review:
I don't recommend this for dry-normal skin people . I personally feel it is a tad drying especially around the cheeks area. I don't quite like the strong minty feel on it as well, it feels a bit like you are having "frost bite" (stinging feeling) on your face. eek

However, my skin does feel smooth after using it. I can also see a little effect of pores tightening on my face. And for this huge tube of mask with this price, it certainly can last for quite some time.

Overall rating:

(the strong mint feel does put me off a lil')

My Dermalogica Skin Refining Masque experience

November 3, 2008

I love to do masking /masque which leaves a cooling and minty effect because of the menthol which formulates in it.

However, I did encountered a few bad experience by getting red patches on my face because of the "over"-cooling effects that they gave.

Well, I didn't really expect that from the famous ol' Dermalogica since their cleansing gel & hydrating masque works pretty good with me.
SRM

I recently got this sample and decided to try it since the sample was an "eye sore" lying on the table.

Here's the description of the product as taken from the website:

A skin-clarifying masque with oil-absorbing Kaolin and Bentonite clays plus Zinc Oxide to remove impurities and refine the skin's surface, helping to reduce oily-skin breakouts. Soothing botanical extracts of Mallow, Arnica and Cucumber help reduce inflammation while purifying Watercress, Lemon and Ivy revive dull skin. Contains no artificial fragrance or color.

How it works?

* Kaolin and Bentonite clays absorb excess oils.
* Botanical extracts of Mallow, Arnica and Cucumber plus Zinc Oxide and Menthol help soothe skin.
* Purifying Watercress, Lemon and Ivy help revive dull skin.

SRMt

As you can see, the masque paste is quite smooth as you can see from the picture. Just like whipped cream. LOL.

Based on my personal experience, I felt a "stinging" effect (throughout the 10 mins)after the masque was spread onto my face and I think it is because of its cooling/menthol ingredients in it.

SRM

I also did get a slight rosey-red patch on both of my cheeks after the masque is rinsed off.

However, the after-effects of the product did gave my skin a smooth & cleansed feeling of it. I can also see my pores are tightened up and blackheads are seemed to be not so obvious anymore.

Do note this is just a trial experience of mine, which is only a one-time effect, I guess. Well, I do think everyone's experience is different as we do not owned the same type of skin.smile

PS: I strongly recommend seeking professional advice or seek a dermatologist before getting this product though.
