MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation SPF 15

November 23, 2009

I know I know, I'm just a bit left out from the current future. Haha. But I'm doing this with a little twist here.. comparing against my L'egere BB cream.

However, is this replaceable? Absolutely!! - for me lah.. mrgreen

Product pic...

Squeezable tube, and very convinient too!

See the mousse-like foundation? It's not like those hair mousse type of texture though..

Spreading on my fingers..

It does look a little like whipped cream too!

sigh, my photos.. look so weird here...

Under direct sunlight..

Anyway, my color is the same as Jenn @ Lipglosseater. :D NW20

The Product: 40ml
Price : RM120

From MAC's website:
A creamy, luxurious, gel-based foundation that provides medium buildable to high coverage with a natural satin finish. Hydrating, instantly revitalizes the skin while keeping it looking smooth, soft and plush. Long-wearing, water-resistant.

Before I tell you my thoughts.. here's how it works on my skin.

*I only apply one layer here*

Here's my thoughts:
  1. Coverage: Medium, but this can buildable if you can tolerate the texture of this foundation.
  2. Texture: From the website, it points out that it's gel based, but for me, it feels more like cream + mousse. It's thick and it's not easy to blend as well. Also, if you have L'egere BB cream, this is much more thicker in terms of it's consistency.
  3. Effect of this foundation: Dewy. Matte doesn't come into the picture even if a setting powder is used.
  4. Scent: Coffee!! I don't know why but it does feel a little like coffee.. just a slight coffee smell to it.. (btw, I'm not a kopi-fan here..)
If you do watch 女人我最大 program, Kevin did mentioned that this foundation gives a Q10 effect (lifting effect) of the face.. by achieving this, he did also mentioned that you have to use this with a MAC brush that comes out with this collection - MAC 191 foundation brush (see below).

*191 brush is the 3rd product - square-shaped synthetic-fibre brush*

So, I'm putting a test to see whether there's any Q10 a not. Please excuse the bloated face. rolleyes

* got ar? * I have no 191 brush but I did use my 190 brush to blend the foundation in.

BTW, I also do feel that it's better to use a brush to blend this foundation because the creamy mousse foundation doesn't really work well with my fingers..

Now here comes the interesting part.. I'll show you how L'egere and MAC's SSF works for me..

Any difference? Or maybe it's because of the direct sunlight.. it doesn't help much..

Here's a photo that do show that my MAC SSF shows a slight different between L'egere BB cream.

It has a darker pink undertone with it. L'egere BB cream fitted much better to my skin here... Texture wise, I do feel that L'egere BB cream is not so creamy like MAC SSF and it does spread a little easier than MAC SSF as well.

Anyway, both MAC SSF and L'egere BB cream gives the same coverage but different in terms of price.

Would I re-purchase it? Well, maybe not ... sorry MAC!

BTW, if you are looking for other's opinion about it, do check out these blogger's review too!

L'egere Multi White BB Cream Review

October 17, 2009

To start off, I am not a liquid/cream foundation person. I dislike the double work (liquid/cream foundation + loose powder) that I have to do to my face. The "blending" process with them also takes up a lot of time for me (imagine the morning rush hour...).

But after using this L'egere BB cream, my perception towards the above statement changed, almost drastically. =_= I know BB creams are different compared to liquid foundation but to me, but the way to apply them are the same.

I almost nearly wanted to break off with my MAC Mineralized loose foundation. >.<

Anyway, I got this baby 2 months ago from fiobeauty which comes with some "gold" serum...
*I haven't use the serum yet coz I don't really know what to do with it :P*

Here's how it looks like....

See the gold flecks? I read from somewhere that "gold" may not work for everyone, so I'm still leaving this aside for now. :)So, let's move them aside. :D

Seriously, these L'egere brand has been widely introduced by Queen before. I think they did came to Malaysia to promote them in JB (correct me if I'm wrong).

The back instructions. Let me know if you need some translation done. :)

The small "instruction" page that comes with it.

Up close.

If you don't know, L'egere has two types. One is the water drop shiny pearl version (in hot pink) and the multi white one (which I'm using).

The instructions ....

*Seriously, I don't recommend sponge, coz it soaks up lots of BB cream with it.. such a waste! ~tsk tsk *

Let's move on with the interesting stuff :D

Seriously, they are quite big in size.

And the squeezable tube that is sealed tightly.

Here comes the swatches! :D

So dark right? But fear not! Coz when you rub it....

The color sunks into the skin.. and became lighter! Magical huh? :P

And I tell you, I tried to capture under many lightings to get the correct outcome of it. And it is so tiring. >.<

1. Under white light (snapped it in my office, shhhh :P )

2. Another one, but looking weird here.. color contrast I guess. =_= But see, where's my fugly pores?! :D

(I've lightly dusted loose powder on top and my blusher..)

This is the one I've taken them outdoor, with only the BB cream itself.

I used my foundation brush with it because I thought it might be easier to spread than using my fingers.. In the end, I see "streaks" of BB cream :P *lazy to blend properly :P*

See how it glows on my skin? Love it :D

Anyway, here's what I think of it..

The Product: 50g
Price that I bought this: RM60 (from Fiobeauty.com)
Manufactured in: Korea

My thoughts for this product:
In short, BB cream is Moisturizer + Sunblock + Makeup Base + Foundation. But I'm not sure why L'egere stated that it has 10 in 1 functions with this. 6 skin care basic + 4 face make up functions. If these were so great, then we might just throw away all our skin care + make up and use only this BB cream alone. =_=

I used this L'egere White Multi BB cream right after all my skincare and after sunblock.
*Wash face - Toner - Serum - Moisturizer - Sunblock - L'egere BB cream - Laura Mercier loose powder*
I know some people use BB creams right after moisturizer. But for me, BB cream is categorized as makeup as it has foundation in it, so it is best to use them right after sunblock is applied.

I'm a NW20 for MAC's Studio Sculpt (I'll do a review and compare against this as I find them both quite alike ), and a light medium for MAC's mineralized loose foundation. So you see, I'm on a fair-natural side. My Revlon foundation color are 200 Nude. If you asked me if this L'egere is for dark skin ladies, I don't quite think so. I think this works fairly well for people with NC / NW20 - NC/NW 30 lor. :)

Pros IMPO:
- Easy to blend, coz it is not too creamy. But I recommend to use fingers gently massage a little bit first on the back of the palm before applying to the face. (I don't recommend massage and rubbing the product straight onto the skin because these are not skincare)
- No fragrance added, but a very very slight plastic scent.
- Stays "intact" to my skin, adds glow to it, so these are not matte-finish.
- Does not clog my skin *touch wood* (but also depends on how each person takes off their makeup)
- Quite affordable compared to other brands like BRTC.
- Covers up my undereye well. I can save up concealers here! :D

Cons IMPO:
- Not available in Malaysia. Have to look for local spreers or on-line stores to pre-order them.

Overall, L'egere did quite a good job on what it is suppose to do. I haven't tried the water drop shiny pearl version yet, but I think the other one should be more watery than the Multi white version. I think for RM60 per tube, it is quite affordable and a little goes a long way too! :)

The ingredients...

Do let me know your thoughts if any one of you have tried them before! ;)

MAC Mineralized Loose Foundation SPF15, I like!

January 15, 2009

Geez. Lately I have been buying quite a number of foundations. ZA, Dior, and now MAC.

As if I changed my skin everyday. LOL. mrgreen

Because of Dior's foundation color doesn't suit me well, I donated my money in return for MAC's mineralized loose foundation instead.

Damn terror la. Match my skin tone well. So unbelievable. lol

The packaging looks so cute. Like a super-mini milk bottle. hehe.
MAC

This loose foundation is a permanent line for MAC . So it won't be going anywhere, anytime soon (for now). And you can also find them in MAC's webbie.

The sponge is attached to the cover of the foundation, and it also comes with an extra sponge too.

Price: RM125
My Shade: Light Medium

Overall review:
Well, like I said, it matches my skin well. No break out so far (**touch wood**), and it keeps oil at bay too! Best of it, it does NOT oxidies on me. YAY! I used to read reviews mentioning MAC's foundation does cause breakout, orange face, etc. But thank god I don't encounter any of it.

And on the negative side, the sponge is a little not so hygiene. Imagine after you applied the foundation on your face, the sponge goes back in again with the foundation. rolleyes And also, the sponge is a little difficult to use, would recommend a kabuki brush or a powder brush for this.

Overall rating:

Almost my HG, minus the sponge applicator part! Well done, MAC!

Diorskin Extreme Fit Supermoist Powder Foundation review

January 4, 2009

I'm sure Dior is seriously and dangerously famous with their lipgloss.

Little did I know they also have quite a good range of powder foundation too until I brought this back home ...
Photobucket

I did always raved about how I always love my Chanel but when I touch Dior's powder, it is silky smooth and super fine. *squeals*

Dior came out with their new range of supermoist line about 2 months ago and the SA told me that this range suits our hot and humid weather in Malaysia. And I do agree with that after using it for a month plus now.

The refill comes with a sponge and it is packed quite elegantly with its crystal-like plastic casing.

I must say it does look more classy than my Shu's and Chanel's refill packaging.rolleyes

And of course, the results: (pls excuse my large pores. -_-)

Overall reviews:
Diorskin extremefit supermoist does not streak or cake after 4-5 hours for me. The powder is smooth and fine, but it is not as powdery as Shu U's or ZA's two way. I think it is comparable between Chanel's Mat lumiere powder foundation though. It does not provide any dewy/glow effect but it does gave a matte finish which is why I adore it. Coverage wise, it does give an almost full coverage for me, not too heavy but just nice.

However, I felt that to get a 90% matched skintone color code is quite difficult though.

010 code for me is a tad too whitish and I think 020 should be a better match. The SA initially recommend me to get the lighter color code and luckily I didn't get it. So it is best to test the colors before buying it though. rolleyes

(minus the credit for limited range of colors).

Edit: Price of the foundation refill is RM128 for 9.5g mrgreen
