ColourCology Hydrating Pre Makeup Base SPF50 @ 玻尿酸保濕防曬控色乳SPF50

September 16, 2009

Ya ya, I know. Another make up base. But this time is from ColourCology by Niu Er. :P

Here's the actual product:-

The details:-

(this is silicon-based, and also.. it says SPF50 at the front, but SPF30 at the back?!, I hope it's a printing error...)

This packaging looks fairly simple but I just love the chromy feel of it. :D

The dispenser of this make up base.

The good stuff that you'll be getting:-

Seriously, this reminds me very much of strobe cream.

The swatches:-

Pearly, shiny, moissyy (new word replacing "moist") :P

On Yours Truly XD ...

I know this pic doesn't do much justice, but just want to show you that it gives a slight dewy effect. And this one is not drying too! :D

The Product: 30ml
Price that I bought this: RM55 (from Fiobeauty.com, as usual)
My thoughts for this product:

For RM55 and getting only 30ml of the make up base is seriously not cheap (RM1.90 per ML). If you top up a little more, you can have MAC's Strobe Cream already. LOL! However, both MAC Strobe Cream and this Pre make up base is different in terms of it's consistency. This ColourCology is more watery whereas strobe cream is .. you know, cream! :P I like this base the most (other than my HG Guerlain primer)compares to my previous make up bases. It also make my skin feels "hydrated" but not oily. In terms of smell, it doesn't really have any smell to it. Also, even though it stated this is silicon-base, but the texture doesn't feel or even look like it!

Cons?
Not cheap. And not available in Malaysia. :(

Overall, I will buy this again if my second bottle hits the bottom (ya, I've a second one at home already! :D).

The ingredients:-

Making Eyeshadows "POP" ...

September 6, 2009

By looking at the pic above, it doesn't do much justice. Let me explain more below.

Kindly note that I'm not comparing against eye bases. I just wanted to show the difference between using these products below...

Looking familiar? :)

Let me explain further.

The first one...
Mineral Eyeshadow Sealant. I'm not sure if we can get this locally but I got this from MAD Minerals some time back.

This comes in a liquid form, but quite watery for my liking. More like an eyeliner sealant rather than an eyeshadow sealant.

Second one...
MAC Butternutty Shadestick.

How it looks like..

The third one..
NYX Jumbo Eye Shadow pencil in Milk. I think most people should have known them by now. :P

The ingredients of this pencil..

Last but not least, the "high-end" eyeshadow primer by Too Faced. :)

You may asked why TFSI? The reason is because normally we either apply our eyeshadow without any canvas/bases on our skin, but nowadays, people believed that by using primer, the shadows will "POP". But we shall see what happens when we compared against the other 3 below.

Normally I'll compared against this three things...
1. TFSI (Too Faced Shadow Insurance)
2. MAC Butternutty Shadestick
3. NYX Jumbo Eye Shadow Pencil in Milk

But since I still got my sealant, I'll include it into my review. :)

The more detailed swatches of these "bases"...

I compared these outcomes with the normal eyeshadow and some random MAC pigments.

For a start, I go with MAC pigments first in Pinked Mauve and Tea Time.

Do you noticed any difference?

If you look closely, with NYX Jumbo Eye Shadow pencil in Milk, Tea Time pigment looked a little darker. But on with the rest of the bases, the looked normal. The same goes with Pinked Mauve pigment. I guess the pigment itself is already sufficient to go on its own (just like Gardenia bread :P).

Ok, so let's move on with the normal eye shadows.

Can you see the difference? :D

Maybe this will help you a little more. :)

NYX Jumbo Eye Shadow pencil really shows some difference between the other three. The colors are more vibrant looking, don't you think so? Just take look at those eye shadows applied without anything underneath! The pink shadows looks really "blahhhh" to me.

MAC Butternutty shadestick does quite a good job too. But it does not showed up so vibrant like what NYX did. It gives a more "velvety" feel to it.

I did compared them both again with other colors.

Overall, for myself, NYX Jumbo Eye Shadow Pencils are really a great tool and underbase if you want to make your eye shadows "POP". The reason being is because it has quite a lot of wax in it's ingredients so that it makes the texture more sticky and silky.

But does it crease? If you use it alone, of coz it will crease. But if an eye shadow applied above them, it stays on beautifully (but this may not be the same for other people). :)

However, one reason that I don't quite like about NYX is that it takes some effort to remove them. Because of the waxy ingredients, it tends to stick on like UHU on my skin. :P

About MAC Butternutty shadestick, even though it gives a velvety effect to the shadows, but it is so hard to blend them on the skin!! It is not as silky as NYX Jumbo E/S pencil, also it leaves some chunk "glitters" if it is not blended evenly. -_-" Stroking this onto the eye is not a problem, but blending is a huge problem to me. I have to do some sort of "Rubbing" with my fingers and the eye brushes doesn't seem to work together also. -_-"

As for the Mineral Eye Sealant by MAD Minerals. I don't know what to say. Ha ha. Coz it doesn't really seal any eyeshadow to me. It dries on pretty quickly after I applied them onto my eye. But guess what, it leaves a patch straight on to the skin without letting me blend them. So I guess it works more like an eye liner sealant rather than an eye shadow sealant. :)

In short, here's the summary of these four things:
NYX Jumbo Eye Shadow Pencil (From Nonpareil boutique): $3.50
MAC Butternutty shadestick: $16.50
Too Faced Shadow Insurance: $17
MAD Mineral Eye Shadow Sealant: $7

From the prices above, I do recommend NYX Jumbo Eye Shadow Pencils since it is cheap and they have many other colors as well. As for TFSI, it really is a great primer like I reviewed about it before (HERE). It is just like a make up base, that gives an extra "protection" to our skin (our skin area around the eyes are really thin and wrinkles do form easily if we do not take care of it) and also to "lock" our eye make up to prevent them from creasing and fade. :)

Showing off my Coastal Scents Haul :P

September 5, 2009

Seriously butt fingers itchy here. Wanted to show off my most recent haul from Coastal Scents actually. (coz can't think of what to write today, LOL!)

What I got here was:
  • Brush guards , the variety pack ones.
  • Synthetic Fine Liner Brush (this one is great! Has a ultra-fine tip! Much better than my previous one).
  • Gel liner in True Black (coz I don't really have one black liner).
  • Coastal Scents Smacks (my first tube since I saw a lot of reviews on this one).
They included one free sample which is the tiny little container right above my Smacks. :D A lilac colored loose mineral eyeshadow.

Among all these, I have used the pencil liner and the True Black liner. I'm pretty impressed with the brush seriously but as for the gel liner, it smudges like crazy. Or maybe I have oily lids. But my previous Indigo Blue behaves really well! Argh. Even my BF ask me why I have panda eyes. @_@

But I will review these soon! :D

PS: Most of the time, Coastal scents has their weekly "Friday sale". Sometimes they really have great deals, so do keep a look out for their sales as it do saves a lot of our "blood sweat" money. LOL.

Revlis經典胺基酸深層洗顏料 @Revlis Facial Cleanser

September 3, 2009

Hm.. I don't think I talk about cleansers before. Most of them I could not get a review done is because I either finished off the whole bottle or I am just plain lazy to do it. :P

Well, this one was exceptional ,obviously. Wondered why? It's because I found these photos in my old photo compilation photo(I have a habit of taking haul pics but didn't post them up here) and I thought I can still review them since I haven't finish using it. :)

I didn't quite know the reason why I bought this in the first place. But I'm guessing it is because of the packaging (We do fall in love with pretty things literally... :P).I tried google about this and here's what I found..

Spot anyone familiar? Niu Er did a review on this product before... And there's a tube in orange and pink too!

Here's the actual product packaging...

Don't you think this packaging looks pretty? The box color looked so "bling-bling" and shiny. :D

The back of the box.

I can't do translation this time, coz the description are in Japanese...

The cleanser...

Creamy-creamy type of cleanser...

Some "demo"...

After adding some water and added some swirling and twirling massages :P

Tadaaa!!.. See how much bubbles it has?

The more bubbles a cleanser can foam, the better (and of coz you need to know the technique to "make it"). I remember one of the Origin SA told me that these foamy bubbles will "take" away all those pesky dirt/oil from your face.

The "composition" of this product....

The Product: 100g
Price that I bought this: RM30+ (from Fiobeauty.com, as usual)
My thoughts for this product:
If you look at the ingredients, there's Sodium Laureth Sulfate in this cleanser. With this cleanser, the bubbles form quite easily even when I don't really massage them on my hands (if you didn't know, SLS mostly appear in products like shampoo and soaps, thats why we love bubble bath so much :P). However, this cleanser makes my skin feels tight after each wash. Other than feeling "tight" on my face, the cleanser really does it's cleansing job well. Also, the fragrance is not too overpowering as well.

Cons?
I don't like the "tight" feeling after washing my face with this cleanser. Even though my skin felt squeaky clean, I can feel that it strips away my skin's mineral oil leaving my face a little too "dry" for my liking.

Overall, this cleanser doesn't do a bad job actually. I felt that I would have to apply my usual toner and serum after each wash, or else I can feel my pores are "generating" some "oil income" by end of the day. -_-" Since I already got this facial cleanser, I alternate my Dermalogica Cleansing Gel with this every other day so that I won't waste my money for it. :)
