Skincology EGF Cell Regenerating Serum E.G.F.+山藥活齡精華液

March 9, 2010

Don't the name of this product sounds really professional?

BTW, EGF means Epidermis Growth Factor.

And this is the product, again from Skincology (Niu Er).

I haven't tried all of their serum range yet, but will get there someday! LOL!

Here's the promo pics from Payeasy's website.

And the actual product that you'll be getting:

See the serum color? It' a little reddish.. but not as in bloody red color.

But the bottle does scare me a little when I first got it.

The bottle packaging.

Descriptions on the bottle.

And in English.

It says:
Amazing facial moisturizing renewal complex contains human EGF. Aging skin loses its ability to rejuvenate as quickly as adolescent skin. EGF stimulates skin cells to revert to their active renewal pattern. By using this serum twice daily over a 4-6 week period, the skin returns to its youthful clarity and translucence with increased firmness.
Price: RM55 ~ RM58 from Fiobeauty @ last year (540NT from Payeasy) for 30ml

My thoughts:
I think this is an okay product. When I first tried this serum, the smell was a little hard to tolerate. It smells like those "Chinese Herbs" mix with raw vegetable kinda scent. -_- Kinda putting me off a bit for the first few days but now my nose is already immune to it. :P

Other than that, this serum feels light (runny texture) and absorb quickly into the skin. Also, i can see it does help lighten (very little!) some old pimple spots of mine. My skin also felt somewhat "matte" and it seems to control oil for some period of time. :)

I didn't much felt the "firmness" or "more youthful" as described in the product description. But overall, it is an okay product despite it feels very "lightweight" on my skin. :)

The ingredients.

Deep Sea Collagen Essence : 深海膠原胜月太精華原液

August 31, 2009

Gosh. Time flies. It's almost the end of Merdeka day and the start of September.

And do you know not only MAC has new prices starting effective Sept 1? Our petrol prices will also changed starting tomorrow! >_< onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRIUTE19r1o9ROWnXKHfH9UIIP6BcaLtq1zrB7UIzw28vd_3dh4z_BKvvplYrUaEXmP5TV6nVaetZtb4J3k1HhcedWbRKrdSiXfmhVISEj2KsOlUH2c1gWMmeHpcOWsho20PXiIY1pnBDX/s1600-h/deepsea+essence%285%29.JPG">
I've talk about the moisturizer in my earlier post. This is the hydrating serum or you can call it an essence.

From the website:

It says: (I'm doing a "Agak-agak" direct translation,okay. no pro here. :P)
1. Maintain youth
2. Firming & Lifting
3. Eliminates fine lines

From the box.

The ingredients and notes:

Sticker from the bottle :)

Just like any serum that I own from Niu Er. Here's how it looks like.

Spreading out onto the skin....

The Product: 30ML
Price that I bought this: RM50 +- (I don't quite remember the exact price already, sorry -_-")

My thoughts for this product:
Like any other serum/essence that I used, it is very lightweight, quite watery (as Purified water it is the 1st main ingredient in the list) and absorbs pretty quickly into the skin. The consistency is a little thicker than the usual toner. It felt like nothing after application (2-3 mins later) . I used this before my moisturizer. Does it claims like what it says on the description? Well, frankly speaking. I don't feel anything. Eliminates fine lines or firming/lifting. Nada aka None. -_-" How about Smell? I don't feel it does has any smell to it as well.

Cons? A little drying I would say after it is applied onto the skin. My skin does not even feel supple as well. But with the same range of its moisturizer , my skin does feel hydrated and supple. :)

Will I buy it again? Sadly to say, I don't think so.

Anyway, I do hope Niu Er can have a thicker consistency in their serums (and of coz, the price that we pay for may double or even triple with it :P).

Advance Hydrating Primer Treatment Essence : 玻尿酸酵母保濕青春露

August 14, 2009

Do you ever taken so many photos of something that you totally forgot about it? Well, I do. And when I look through my old achieve of my photo album, I have tons of pictures of my skin care that I "was" intended to post up last time. Geez.

OK. Back to the topic.

This is called a hydrating primer treatment essence.

I don't know why Niu Er actually named it this way, but from their Payeasy website, this was considered one of their toner range. This is my second bottle already, because I dropped the first bottle (don't ask! -_-").

Comes in a plain white packaging.

The description in Chinese. (Click to enlarge)

What's so interesting about this essence is this one below...

Noticed the highlighted part? Holy Water! LOL!

But the thing is, it doesn't really feels like water. It's more like a watery type of serum, a stickier consistency than a normal toner.

The packaging is made of glass.

And mind you, this is really really fragile. Coz the body is so smooth and feels slippery on my hands. (or maybe blame it on my clumsiness :P )

Again, in English...

The dispenser.

Anyway, in case you are wondering...the essence "swatch" LOL!

I normally use it with my hands and gently pat them on my face. I don't really use cotton pad that much because the essence is a lil' stickier (and would be wasteful if the cotton pad absorbs it more than my skin does).

It really hydrates my skin well, and sometimes I even skipped my serum and straight away slap on my moisturizer. So far these Niu Er Products suits me well (and might differ from each person), and I loved them! :D Would I buy them again? Probably yes!

On and all, in case you want to know..My skin routine is normally like this..
(1) Cleanser --> Toner (the essence above) --> Serum --> Moisturizer.
(2) Cleanser --> Toner --> Moisturizer.
(3) Cleanser --> Scrub --> Mask --> Toner --> Serum --> Moisturizer.

Last but not least... the "jewels" behind the essence..

PS: I got this from www.fiobeauty.com ; You can actually pre-order from her as well in case you are interested (you'll need to register as a member in her e-shop and leave her a message there).

Ampoule-fied Your Skin!

July 13, 2009

Do you use Ampoule?

What the heck is Ampoule?!!

Let's see...

Quoted from Wikipedia:
An ampoule (also ampule or ampulla) is a small sealed vial which is used to contain and preserve a sample, usually a solid or liquid.
Quoted from the search engine in Google:

Ampoules are airtight glass containers that are filled with a concentration of highly active ingredients. Ampoules usually contain botanical extracts, vitamins and enzymes in various combinations and do not have any preservatives or chemicals due to the airtight packaging. These ampoules are designed to address every skin conditions and deficiency. Ampoules can have remarkable effects on various skin conditions, irritations, hyper – pigmentation, as well as, aging. Visible results are achieved within a short time after application.

Ampoules are commonly used in beauty salons during facials/before make up application. You can use it for special occasions or incorporate it into your skincare regime. Makeup lasts longer as it is helpful in controlling sebum and makes our face looks less oily. Skin feels very soft and hydrated after application.

I've been using ampoule since last year and only two brands that I've tried which is from Pro-Q and Sensual.

This is Pro-Q.
Photobucket

And here's how it looks like.
Photobucket

In each box, there's 10 of these small little "baby-milk-like" bottles.

There's many variations from Pro-Q actually. From face ampoules to even bust ampoules. :D

And I just love these ampoules. Especially the hydrating ones (named Trace Elements).

If I'm not mistaken, many MUA uses them to set the face make up. So it will look flawless. Let me show you one random "after-effect" photo of mine when I uses these ampoules.

See how it sets them? (Please excuse the nerdy glasses okay.. :P )

FYI, my pores are really huge and gets oily every time. And when I uses these ampoules, it actually "hydrates" the skin and make the makeup sits onto the skin almost flawlessly (see no pores right? :P )

Now, let me show you the Sensual ampoules that I got.

Comes with 10 huge bottles in it.

And the quantity (serum) is more than Pro-Q's ampoule.

There are many variations in Sensual's ampoule.

1. Hydrating
Function: Anti-aging, enhance skin complex, moisturizing.

2. Lightening Ampoules
Function: Whitening, clarifies dark spot, lighten pigment.

3. Beauty lifting
Function: Strengthens skin elasticity and firmness of double cheek.

4. Pure Vitamin C

5. Soothing

10. Beauty shine care

13. Bust Care

14. Tightening

15. Oxygenerating

I can't show you what's the inside of Pro-Q ampoule (coz my cam battery died off) so I'll show you the inside of Sensual's ampoule instead.

Here's how it looks like after you remove the silver aluminum cap.

Here comes the serum...

How I used it? Two ways. One is before make up. And another by "masking" it. I'll show you my "masking" way for this.

The "Masking" way.
I slap the serum onto my face first and pat it gently until is 70% absorbed.

Then I mix my soft mask (which is a powder-kind of mask where you'll need to mix it with water) and put it onto my face (after the serum step).

And here's how it looks like (pardon the messy stuff :P )

This is done very quickly (and lazily), hence the soft mask looks so unevenly spread. :P

I do this masking way is because I personally believe our face "drinks" the product quickly. This mask will actually help to "force" and "covers" the serum up to make sure our skin "drinks" / "sucks" the serum into the face (okay, I can't find the exact word for "serap" -_-" ).

So, what's the different between Pro-Q and Sensual?

1. The packaging and the quantity of the product.

Sensual has 3.8ml of product, while Pro-Q has 3ml of Product.

2. The price factor.
Sensual is retailed for about RM38 (I believe there's other sellers who sells them at RM30), and Pro-Q retailed for about RM30. But wait, look at the product quantity, Sensual's has more ampoule in it's bottle!! :)

3. The serum is different. (From my personal experience).
Sensual's product consistency is a little thick than Pro-Q. And with the thick consistency, it takes a longer time to absorb into the skin. Sensual's serum smells a little like (very very faint smell) rubber while Pro-Q's serum has a little fragrance in it (very very faint smell of fragrance).

4. Product packaging.
Sensual's product is easier to open and to store them (where it has a little cap). Pro-Q is harder to open and store them. I need to actually break the glass (the tip of Pro-Q) very very carefully because I did cut my finger with the glass previously. -_-" Not user-friendly packaging at all for Pro-Q.

Overall, other than it's packaging factor, I personally like Pro-Q's ampoule a lot as it is easier to absorb into the skin and it does really help my makeup to stay pretty even under the hot sun!

Other side comments that I have is that:-
1. If you do intend to keep this ampoule for more than 1 day (obviously it is just too much to finish it in one day unless you use it all over your body :P) , keep them in the refridgerator.
2. Do not use it on the eye area unless it is an eye ampoule. This is because sometimes the ingredient is too rich for the eye area.
3. Open the ampoule with a folded tissue or cloth to avoid hurting/cutting your fingers.
4. Pour them onto the palm and slap the product with your fingers instead of your cotton wipes (as cotton wipes absorb more product than your skin :P).
5. Do not have ampoule as a daily skincare routine. It is advisable to use it for a period of time (ie. 3-4 days intensive treatment) but not for a long period as it may be too rich for the skin to handle. ;)

Do you have any other comments on ampoules? Let me know and I'll add them to the list! :D

Niu Er Bionic Range

February 27, 2009

Ever heard of Niu Er products?

I've been using these products for quite sometime now and I think its about time I review them a little bit. smile

This is the handsome young man behind this brand.
Niu Er

"Skin specialist" Niu Er (牛爾)

He has his own website too > *click*

One of his range of product called "Bionic" was really satisfying for me. You can see more here.

Bionic is a short name for Lactobionic, chinese called 乳糖酸. Here's some data from google:
  • Ideal for post procedural care and acne recovery
  • Provides softness and a velvety smoothness to the skin
  • AHA anti-aging properties and cell turnover benefits
  • Exfoliates, plumps and soothes skin
  • Provides intense moisturization to minimize the visible signs of aging.
and more interesting....
  • Has been in medical applications including as an ingredient in preservation solutions for human organs for transplantation!! eek
From Niu Er's Bionic range, I only picked two out of the three of them.

There are also other brands who uses lactobionic acid such as Neostrata and Nuskin. And of coz, they were incomparable with Niu Er's range because of its price factor. :P

The packaging of these range were in white and it looks a little "too simple" with its design.

(1) Bionic serum 10 (Serum)

The benefits from this bottle of serum from the website were tightening of pores, whitening & hydrating benefits.

Main ingredients were Lactobionic acid, glycerin, Vit A, E and C.

How it looks like?
Bionic10
Crystal clear liquid...

Price: NT550 for 30ML (approximate RM60+)

Overall Review:
It absorbs to the skin almost instantly after applied. It is quite watery and it contains very very minimal fragrance in it. I love this a lot because it does shows tightening of pores (on me). I recommend this for those who have oily or combi skin. It does feel a little drying for those who had dry skin.

My rating for this :

(2) Bionic 8 (Moisturizer)
Bionic 8

How it looks like?

After application....

Price: NT500 for 50ml (approx RM55+)

Overall Review: This lightweight moisturizer absorbs into the skin fairly quick. However, it absorbs a little slower than its other cousin called Q10 rejuvenation emultion. The consistency of Bionic 8 is also a little watery but after application onto the skin, it feels quite moisturizing. Best of it ,the moisturizer does not feel oily(or shiny) nor sticky too.

After almost a year of owning this, I did not break out at all.

One side note, this moisturizer and serum works better if they are paired together.

Here's my before and after pics (sorry for the bad lighting!)
