Nature Republic Aqua Sunblock Cream SPF 35 PA++ Review

December 1, 2010

Does anyone miss me? hehe. Apologized for the longgggggg hiatus.

Anyway, I guess most of the people would know about Nature Republic for now. I wasn't really attract to it at first since I'm a bit skeptical on Korean beauty products (well, don't ask why. It's a long story.)

So, the curious me went to their shop during their some-what grand-opening in Queensbaymall and got some of their stuffs. And this was one of them....

The box that comes with it.

The information that you would get from the box...

I'm still wondering what is "MD water". mountain dew water? keke.

What I like about is that the bottle is quite sturdy by itself. You can easily handle the sunblock without messing it up at the pump because you will need some "pressure" to actually pressed the cream out from the bottle.

The sunblock texture. More like liquid than cream to me.

When spreaded onto the skin.

Price: About RM39+  for 65ml (Correct me if I'm wrong, I tried to find the price at the shop but it seems that it was out of stock at the moment in Queensbaymall. =\)

My thoughts:
The SA there recommended me that this was one of their "HIT" products, and she suggested this sunblock to those who doesn't like "oily-type" of sunblock.
At first, I wasn't used to the sunblock as I thought it was still a little too "creamy" than my "ex-sunblocks" that I have. It took me a few days to get used to the texture and now I'm quite satisfied with them.

Texture wise, don't expect it to be a runny type of liquid. It has a very very faint fragrance to it as well. Very very slight shimmers, and no grey/white cast to it. Also, it takes about a rough 1-2 minutes for it to settle down onto my skin. On a side note, it does not have any "oily" feel to it and I would feel that this sunblock would suit normal/combi/oily skin people. =)

Would I re-purchase them?
Maybe. But I would prefer a more liquid type of sunblock.

Here's the ingredient list that is stated behind the box.

So, what's your take on Nature Republic products?

BTW, Rain (Korean singer/actor) is the ambassador for this brand. I will show you how their paper bags look like the next time. :P

Dr. Jart+ Dew Drop Blemish Base Blue Label BB Cream SPF27 / PA++

January 18, 2010

Frankly speaking, I previously kinda still am(!) confused with BB cream. Especially those brands that came out with not one but many variations of it.

When my previous sunblock is running low, I decided to get a different type of sunblock by seeking recommendations from fio. I told her I didn't want Rohto again as it was a little too dry for me (old liao, so the skin became dry x_x). And here's what she said:-

fio: I thought you got BB cream already, still need sunblock ar? Dr. Jart Blue label can do.

me: (har??) I thought BB cream cannot take it as sunblock mar, Some more BB cream very sticky leh.... (i remembered somewhere said that BB cream is the last step that you need to do after all your skincare routine..)

fio:normally some products that has sun protection is abit sticky one, so that's why I told you Blue label is water-based, not those sticky type.

me: oh, I thought BB cream is foundation + sunblock and must be used after sunblock. :P

fio: BB cream is actually sunblock. Just like Rohto. Rohto now in Taiwan magz also categorized as BB cream already. For example, if you want to use BB cream with SPF then you can skip sunblock. If applied two, the sunblock will be overwrite by the SPF of the BB cream.
I did a quick search on it and this is how it looks like:-

Here's my Blue label (sounds like alcohol..lol!) :D

Silverish Blue Box. Class!!

For the Korean Readers. :P

BTW, if you understand them, do let me know what it means ya.

But wait, there's Englandlish in there too! xD

The product.

Perfectly sealed. :D

*protected*

Also, don't expect this tube to be hugeeee...

See how small this is!! -_-

The swatch.

Because this is Water-based BB, you will get tonnes of water from it..

I was horrified when I squeeze them out of the tube for the first time. I actually thought the product was a defect one. When shaking the tube, you can hear the "water" sound in it! Scary!! I only got to know it was because it contain "sea water" (hydration) as quoted from fio. LOL! -_-

See how watery this is!

On my fattybombom face. :P

Because it is water-based BB cream, it doesn't do any "conceal" or "correct" the imperfecto~.

The product: 50ml
Price: RM70 @ fiobeauty

My thoughts:
I love it! Because it is a water-based product, it does keep my face "hydrated". I don't even feel oily after 8 hours of wearing them! Also, this Blue label is easier to blend unlike my other BB cream. :D Damn likey me blue label. If you don't like fragrance, this may be your thing too! :D

Cons?
Because this is water-based, you have to have a quick hand using them. Sometimes I do blend the cream a few rounds (light massage around the skin with my fingers), because of that, the BB cream became little flakes/flaky. -_-"

Another cons is that this Blue Label has quite a lot of "water" in it. Sometimes when I over-squeeze them, the water spilled everywhere. -_- If only they don't put that much of water in it. It's like we are paying for the water more than the cream.

Overall, I really love Blue label even though it gives a very light coverage to the skin. I haven't tried the Silver/Black label ones, but this one is a worthy product to try out if you are looking for a non-sticky type of BB cream.

Shills Moisturizing Liquid UV Spray SPF30 潤膚防曬噴霧

December 13, 2009

As some of you may know, I don't really stick to one face product most of the time. One of the product that I alternate alot is my sunscreen/sunblock. This time it's from Shills.

Some of you may be familiar with Shills product as they do come out with some other stuff like BB creams and skincare products.

Here's what I can find from Google. I don't think they have a website though (correct me if I'm wrong).

It seems like this sunscreen can be used on the body as well.

From the box:

The actual product:

This product "life span" after opened is 6 months.

The packaging is quite stylish and I do like how this company packaged them.

*see the liquid??*

My thoughts about it:

** My likes....
  1. Dewy-finished. This product does not leaves a matte & dry finish unlike my Rohto sunblock.
  2. Affordable. Price is comparable/ on par to other drugstore brands of sunblock.
** My DISlikes....
  1. Spray bottle goes crazy sometimes... I have to clean it regularly, if not the liquid wouldn't want to come out from the bottle. :X

  2. When I first ordered them, I like it because it says "spray". So, I was thinking it's going to be not those sticky type and should be lightweight/watery product that can goes on easily on the skin. It was lightweight/watery alright but the blending/spreading of this sunscreen makes me go crazy!!

  3. *see the bracket part*

Overall I do not like nor fancy this. rolleyes

I really look forward to use this when this sunscreen reaches me. But spreading this sunscreen on my face is so tough!! I get streaks all over, and because the texture of this product is so watery, I couldn't managed it properly either. *sigh*

Anyway, I really fancy the way Shills package this product, the color so elegant and the bottle looks so nice! Maybe I should try use it on my body instead of my face so that I don't waste this product....*gahh!!* rolleyes If you do use this and didn't have a problem like mine, please do let me know. xiexienidulu (TQ to U 1st) smile

ROHTO Acnes Sunscreen 淨痘隔離乳SPF50+ PA++

August 22, 2009

私の大好きな生産物!!! <-- My Favourite Product ^_^

Okay, I got nothing better to do so I went on and translate English to Japanese. :P

Rohto is one of the Japanese brand and from my opinion, I feel more "secure" (or safe in other words) when using Japanese products compared to Korean ones. Or maybe you can say I'm bias :P. Sorryyy Korean Product fans~. -_-

If you do a quick search on Google, you'll find these pictures under "Rohto Sunblock" search.

Now now, I know. You may say "I don't see any ROHTO wording here".

You know why? Actually I don't know why but they put the "Rohto" name behind the product carton.

See? Weird right. :P

So "coincidentally" I bought MAC's concealer so I thought I got them both to do a sizing comparison...

The product description... In Japanese in case you know Japanese language... (In case you do know, can you translate for me too? :P )

The amaaazing product:

Yeah, it is a skin-colored sunblock!

The product: 30g
Price: RM38 - RM45 (Depending on different supplier)

As usual, I got it from FioBeauty.com .I also found out that she does has an ebay account HERE as well (in case you want them in English ;) )

Here are my thoughts...
Like I said earlier, this is my favourite product. Before that, I've been using @Nature's sunblock and they are quite oily for my liking. Rohto Sunblock is different compared to @Nature's one, it's non-oily and the best is that it has SPF 50 + which is much higher than the @Nature's one.

I also got one of my colleague friend to try them (she has acne-prone + oily skin) and guess what, this sunscreen does look matte on her from morning til evening! weee! :D

But here's the negative part..
Rohto sunblock contains color (skin-colored) and this may cause a little "grey-cast" streaks if it is not blended well on the face. Also, it dries up pretty fast and you'll need to be quick to blend them in. I also don't recommend this sunblock to those who have dry / dehydrated skin as it may be too drying for for the skin. :)

Would I buy this product again?
Hell yes! I'm already on my second bottle and too bad it's only 30g and I almost use one full bottle of Rohto sunscreen per Month!

Wonder how much did I apply each time?
I apply about 20cents (Malaysian Currency) each time but I seperated it into two times. I applied and wait for about 5 mins (I put on my clothes during this time :P ) and applied the second layer after that.

In short, sunscreen is a must have in every skin care last routine (after moisturizer) as we don't want to get pigmentation at the later stage. Also, remember to use cleansing oil/milk to get them off the skin as it's considered as "make up".

Here's the chinese description that I've found on some websites in case you are interested with it.

@Nature Chamomile Ultra Soothing UV Protective Fluid review

March 15, 2009

Hi people!

Its been a week already since I blog about the kitty-fied collection by MAC and my updates has been pretty slow. rolleyes

Let's talk about sunscreen today, shall we?

As you know, I'm quite "married" to Taiwan's Niu Er's skin care range of products. Most of my skincare routine, ranges from serum to sunscreen are from him. I've got three sunscreen from there. And currently, I'm using @Nature's range (and Yes, I did finished my previous two bottles of sunscreen already! mrgreen)

@Nature

In chinese is called :薰衣草淨白清新高效防曬液SPF50 PA+++ (the Lavender Range)
You can see from the web here.

Overall reviews:
The good part for this is that it contains a high SPF of 50 and it is also PA+++ .
PA = Protection Grade of UVA and it also means the sunscreen's ability against UVA. PA+++ is the highest, and mostly it is recommended for those who are exposed to outdoor activities most of the time.
I used them everyday even though I don't exposed to the sun all the time. It's because I do drive under Mr. Hot Sunshine and therefore I wouldn't want to get my skin affected with miss.ugly.pigmentation having its PR (permanent resident :P) on my skin.

The not-so-good part is this sunscreen do need a little time for it to get absorb into the skin. Because of its higher SPF, it absorbs at a more slower rate than the other lower-spf-sunscreen that I had. It also does gets a little oily after application too. I don't recommend this who does have oily skin though. However, IMO, if you do put on make up after this sunscreen, it does keep the dewy-oily look out of bay though. =)

If you are wondering where I got this from, I got this from www.fiobeauty.com.
