Coastal Scents Smacks - Plum Crazy (Lipgloss)

November 12, 2009

Remember this? And Smacks was one of the haul item that I got some time back ago.

This pic was taken from their website.

And from the whole bunch of colors, I got this...

Plum Crazy~ This pic doesn't really help much, but after I saw swatches from TiffanyD, I picked this color coz it's closer to my dark sausage lips mrgreen

Here's how it looks like...

*I used this pic coz it looks nicer, and not because I'm going to compare with MAC lol*

Smacks.. the name sounds delicious.. smacking lips, yum yum mrgreen

I placed my MAC's lipglass here because I find this two comparable with their sizes. Length are almost the same, but in terms of the glosses, Coastal scents's Smacks are much lesser than MAC's lipglass.

Plum Plum Crazy :D The name is so cute!

Don't the color looked pweeetty? lol

The brush tip.

Brush tip with the color...

I don't know if this is my preference, but I think this color is so wild and berry.. like my old nick - Wildberry cool

or maybe blackcurrent or ribena color. :P See the shimmers ? Nice nice nice!

On my thicky lips.

Smooth n' shiny right? And it does feel that way!

Ok lah, I put my face photo if this is not enough, but please excuse the nerdy nerdy me as usual. cool

The Product:1.5grams/.053oz (1.5grams even lesser than MAC's LE version of lipglass!!)
Price: $2.95
Made in: China

My thoughts about it:
I like this more than my NYX round lipglosses. Let's not compare with MAC's lipglasses first, shall we? I like this is because the lipgloss stays on much longer than NYX round lipglosses. I think it is because of its thick and a little sticky consistency of this gloss. Because it is not as runny as NYX round lipglosses, I can control the way I applied it on my lips (I normally apply out of the lip lines =.= this is not on purpose you know, some more I have to wipe it off with a tissue/cotton bud). I'm not sure if all the glosses from Coastal Scents are the same or not, I feel that this gloss have the "shinny gloss" effect to my lips, like those car wax, and it sticks on to the lips like it's being laminated onto the skin (okay, I'm not good in describing okay rolleyes).

Cons?
Maybe this is expensive as NYX round lipglosses is $2 for 2.5ml. Also, it has a very very faint plasticky waxy smell (if you really smell it).
Other than that, I dislike the brush tip lah. Here's why...

Seeeeee!!!! I like the NYX brush tip better! This frays like crazy~ argh!

Overall, even the brush does fail miserably, but I still like the color of this! razz

Showing off my Coastal Scents Haul :P

September 5, 2009

Seriously butt fingers itchy here. Wanted to show off my most recent haul from Coastal Scents actually. (coz can't think of what to write today, LOL!)

What I got here was:
  • Brush guards , the variety pack ones.
  • Synthetic Fine Liner Brush (this one is great! Has a ultra-fine tip! Much better than my previous one).
  • Gel liner in True Black (coz I don't really have one black liner).
  • Coastal Scents Smacks (my first tube since I saw a lot of reviews on this one).
They included one free sample which is the tiny little container right above my Smacks. :D A lilac colored loose mineral eyeshadow.

Among all these, I have used the pencil liner and the True Black liner. I'm pretty impressed with the brush seriously but as for the gel liner, it smudges like crazy. Or maybe I have oily lids. But my previous Indigo Blue behaves really well! Argh. Even my BF ask me why I have panda eyes. @_@

But I will review these soon! :D

PS: Most of the time, Coastal scents has their weekly "Friday sale". Sometimes they really have great deals, so do keep a look out for their sales as it do saves a lot of our "blood sweat" money. LOL.

MAC Blonde, Brunette and Redhead Collection Haul + My say

February 24, 2009

Woo hoo! I got my BBR stuff!

BBR as in Blonde, Brunette, Redhead collection from MAC.

*credits to bjooti*

Redhead

Blonde

Brunette

Nice right? But I only got two items from the BBR collection. :P
BBR Haul
My Blonde MSF and MAC 226 brush!

The Awful Damage:
MAC 226 - RM105
Blonde MSF - RM103

I didn't buy Redhead / Brunette MSF as I do quite like the peachy-yellow/gold shimmers from Redhead and Brunette is a little to heavy for me. Blonde was great as a blusher for me as it is super-pigmented after I swiped them twice (lightly) on my cheeks. Definitely you should check them out instead of waiting for Hello Kitty's collection. BTW, they had launch BBR in Penang on Feb-20, so you should still be able to get them before they ran out of stock for these MSFs. Cream Team is out too @ Penang's MAC!

Some swatches that I have tried..
From BBR's lip colors.
BBR Lip

And Cream Team's lip colors. Their lipglass packaging is very elegant looking!I like the name "lickable" which I think it is a sexy name.. hahaha.. But I didn't bought any of them. -_-"

Here's my review of the Blonde's MSF..

I am loving it! Seriously, this round's MSF texture was superb. Fine and smooth, and very pigmented! If I got to know Blonde MSF first, I wouldn't sell myself off for MAC's over-rated Petticoat MSF. This is way much better than that in terms of its texture wise.
Petticoat vs blonde
Just look at how powdery it is. Just a swipe on my fan brush!

As for the MAC 226...
Photobucket

I haven't really use the MAC 226 brush but it sure does help me in blending (As I had a very small cease). The brush is soft too! It does shed a little when I wash them. In fact, I think most MAC brushes do shed a little though. Just like my 187 still shed after using it for 4 years. LOL! :)

The carrot-like-head..:P

The only brush that I have that has the same shape as this was from Coastal Scents Italian badger round cease brush..
Photobucket
It is not a dupe for MAC's 226 , mind you. Why? Because CS's bristles are more compact, short and dense whereas MAC's one were more fluffy and less compact.

See how it picks up the color by just one swipe?
Photobucket

It really does its blending job well too! :) I *heart* it.

Overall, the MSFs are the ones that really gets alot of love this round. Definitely should check them out when you still had the chance to! wink

Coastal Scents Gel Liner & White Angled Liner Brush

January 30, 2009

Gong Xi Fatt Choy People!!

I hope your CNY hols was a blast! :D

CS
Looks familiar? Yeah, its from Coastal Scents.

I got one myself sometime back ago, and the color I got was Indigo Blue.

And I thought I wouldn't like it since it looks very creamy from the vloggers review. My my, I was wrong! I am loving this as much as I love my Bobbi Brown's gel liner.

Photobucket

My indigo blue just doesn't look any blue here. Much more of a very dark bluish-purple color. I like!
Photobucket

Indigo Blue gel liner on my eye! Excuse the sleepy-eye shot. :P
Photobucket

And again...

Photobucket

Squinting the eye so that the real color shows up! XP

Photobucket

Oh, before I forgets, their white angled liner brush does its job just well too!

Photobucket
The bristles may look a little annoying (a lil' too soft and a little "hay-wired" bristles..), but it works pretty well with their gel liner though.

Photobucket

Overall reviews:
I loved it! And best of it, the price of the gel is super affordable. And you can get a few jars of it compared to you get only ONE from Bobbi Brown. :P Also, it DOES NOT SMUDGE! *Yay!!* I did put on this when I went for my dancing class, and the liner was still staying there nicely (I applied TFSI as base at that time).

However, I do noticed the inconsistency of the gel liners. Colors such as Indigo Blue and True Black works fine as a liner but from the other colors (ie. Grape Vine), their texture was even creamier which works much better as an eye base. Good ol' Multi-use liners. =P

Price: $6.95/ea (about RM25.72 itself)
* CS ships worldwide yo!*

Size: 3g/0.11oz

Overall rating:

* almost my HG but I'm still loyal to my BB gel liners =P*
