ColourCology Hydrating Pre Makeup Base SPF50 @ 玻尿酸保濕防曬控色乳SPF50

Ya ya, I know. Another make up base. But this time is from ColourCology by Niu Er. :P

This packaging looks fairly simple but I just love the chromy feel of it. :D

I know this pic doesn't do much justice, but just want to show you that it gives a slight dewy effect. And this one is not drying too! :D

The Product: 30ml
Price that I bought this: RM55 (from Fiobeauty.com, as usual)
My thoughts for this product:

For RM55 and getting only 30ml of the make up base is seriously not cheap (RM1.90 per ML). If you top up a little more, you can have MAC's Strobe Cream already. LOL! However, both MAC Strobe Cream and this Pre make up base is different in terms of it's consistency. This ColourCology is more watery whereas strobe cream is .. you know, cream! :P I like this base the most (other than my HG Guerlain primer)compares to my previous make up bases. It also make my skin feels "hydrated" but not oily. In terms of smell, it doesn't really have any smell to it. Also, even though it stated this is silicon-base, but the texture doesn't feel or even look like it!

Cons?
Not cheap. And not available in Malaysia. :(

Overall, I will buy this again if my second bottle hits the bottom (ya, I've a second one at home already! :D).

The Battle of Bases : Kate Make Up Base UV vs Etude House On Screen Primer

Gosh. I am seriously not updating any since June 6. LOL! I was tied up by my work and I also went for a holiday in Bali (Indo) and that's why I'm not doing anything here.(a lot of excuses as usual :P )

Well, time to update!

As you know, my MUFE HD Base is really not helping me (I think I got allergic to it -_-"), and to prevent the same mistake "investing" in counter brand's makeup, I went to buy two drugstore brand's MUB instead : Kate's Make up base UV and Etude On Screen Primer (Bought it after I tried Kate's).

I bought these two because I think they are quite affordable and I want to try whether if these two really suits me / change my mind in drugstore make up (I'm so "kiasi" especially for skin/MU products!).

Let's start with Kate Make up base UV.


I'm not sure how much this cost but I think is about RM30 (or lesser).

The base tip, which I think it is very cool and less messy.

Spread on skin.


Pros:

• Very handy packaging. It has a firm tip so that I can control how much base that I need.
  

Cons:

• Smells sort of like Liquid paper plus UHU gum. -_-
  
• Creamy and tacky consistency.
  
• Difficult to spread on skin (because of its consistency) and quite drying for those who have dry skin.

My Thoughts:
I don't like sticky / creamy kind of bases because I think it is drying on my skin, especially I use powder foundation most of the time (and powder normally absorbs skin moisture / oil which sometimes make my face even drier. I am not fond of it's smell as well. It does make my make up stay put but I do find it a little too drying on my cheeks area (as I have combi skin).

PS: No detailed information / ingredients as I don't have the box anymore.

Next up, Etude On Screen Primer #2 (For Dry Skin).


One of the reason I picked this primer is because it was the cheapest range of make up base in Etude (if I'm not mistaken) - RM39.90.

Spread on skin.


After spread-on. The MUA told me there are two types (#1 and #2) .

#2 is for dry skin, watery consistency..
#1 version is for oily skin, and the consistency is a little stickier than #2.



Pros:

• Pump bottle. Less messy. (But the primer cap is very loose -_-")
• Easier to spread on.
• Skin feels more hydrated compared to Kate's Make up base.
  
• Contains not too strong fragrance (sweet rosey smell)
  

Cons:

• A little too watery.
  

My Thoughts:
Etude primer spreads on easily without any "rubbing" movements on my skin. Feels very light-weight as well. One thing about this is that the primer is a little too watery. And because of its watery consistency, it absorbs to my skin slower. Other than that, the make up base works quite well together with my powder foundation.

My rating for this primer:


Difference within the two.

• *Made in different countries.

• The packaging. I like Etude's packaging more as it is easier to handle than Kate's.

• The consistency of both primers.

Etude's is more watery than Kate's.



Overall, I think Etude's primer works quite well (wins over my MUFE HD Base IMO) and affordable too!

Here's my calculation:
Etude 40 ML = RM39.90 (RM1 per ML)
Kate 25g = RM30 (RM1.2 per ML)
MUFE HD Base 30ML = RM105 (Jakarta Price) (RM3.50 per ML)
Guerlain 30ML = RM200 (RM6.70 per ML)

I would definitely re- purchase Etude on-screen primer again if I ever ran out of them. :)

Make Up For Ever High Definition (HD) Primer - Green

Yes. I'm going to talk about this today.



I bought this when I was in Jakarta 2 weeks ago. Mainly because:-

(a) My Guerlain Primer is going to hit the bottom soon.
(b) I'm looking for a primer which is more thick in texture.
(c) Penang does not have MUFE counter.
(d) I heard so much raves about them, back then.

So I got one myself. In Green. Hijau. Yeah.


At first I was thinking of getting the mauve coloured one since it smells more refreshing than this one. But the MUA recommend me to get either the Green one or the Yellow one. Because of my "Bintik-Bintik" (as quoted by the MUA), she said it would be beneficial for me skin to somewhat "conceal" and "reduces" the redness of my acne. -_- Fine. Oh, and this smells a little like "Rejoice" shampoo.

Anyway, this product is made in France.

Overall Description:

Well, a few things that I am not satisfied.

(Disappointment 1) The packaging.
Yeah, it looks okay in the pictures, but in real life, this bottle packaging is made of plastic. I'm not against anything that is made of plastic, but then this packaging just "hate" me. I brought this HD primer back from Jakarta (Indonesia) and guess what?! This primer spilled all over the place , the bottle just "loosen" itself and the bottle cover is not intact with its body. Sigh.

(Disappointment 2) The primer itself.
I thought it was good for me since I wanted something thicker than my previous primers. Most of them are more watery and absorbs a little slower because of its consistency. This primer is indeed thicker but the blending of this primer onto the skin is quite a tough job for me. I don't own F1 / Initial D fingers and sometimes it looks a little uneven on my skintone if I didnt blend it out quickly. And also, the amount that I use for this primer is almost 2x my previous Guerlain primer.

(Disappointment 3) It ain't do good as it describes.
Let me check if these all applies:-
- energizes skin cells (Nada, maybe a little).
- Moisturizing ( Nada, this gives a matte feeling, not moisturizing in any way)
- Bringing radiance to the skin (Nada, like I said, it gives a matte finished.. mana ada dewy/radiance...)

(Disappointment 4) It stains my ladies fingers.
Yeah. The picture says it all. -_-



On the good side of this primer, it really does help a little on concealing / reducing the redness of my acne. Not obvious but at least it does its job. It also absorbs fairly quickly on the skin (if you do blend it out quickly) and my powder foundation does stay strong just like husband and wife. I won't say this primer is bad, maybe it just doesn't work much for me only! :)

Am I gonna repurchase it? I don't think so for this one. Anyway, do check out the other HD Primer colors. I'm sure there's one that works better than this one. =)

Guerlain Meteorites Perles: Light-Diffusing Perfecting Primer

I always had a thinking that Guerlain's Cosmetics is made specially for aunties.

And I didn't know I was one of them who falls head over heels slippers for their make up base.

They look gorgeous, dont you think so? My purse thinks otherwise though.



I didn't expect to use this previously when I was in dilemma choosing a base between RMK and Guerlain. But I never regret choosing Guerlain, though.



At first glance, I was thinking, "Am I going to use one beads at a time?".

And when the SA tested that on the back of my palm, I was amazed by its fast absorbing effect.

Look at how cute the base is.

The liquid after the suction process.


It does gives a slight shimmery effect after it is applied. But not obvious.

This is what Sephora says on its web.
This gel formula is the first makeup base with pearls of light; it contains an exclusive, color-control base to camouflage blemishes and discoloration, and pearlescent extracts to capture and reflect light, blurring the appearance of fine lines without adding shine.

Overall review:
Guerlain's makeup base is really lightweight and it gives a luminous effect after it is applied. Because of its lightweight properties, it also absorbs into the skin almost instantly. However, I don't think it does help camouflage blemishes or help with discoloration of the skin, though.

P/S: Guerlain also has its new limited edition of eyeshadow pallete called Ombre Éclat 4 Shades Eyeshadow Palette. Not sure if it's already in town, though.

They sure had PRETTY expensive stuff around, huh?
