Yes to Carrots Lip Butter, yum!

January 7, 2011

"Erm.. wassup doc?" there goes my favourite childhood cartoon character - bugs bunny, when I first saw the YTC brand name around.

Doesn't the name sounds yummy? xD

I got this balm some time ago end of last year when I was "shopping" around in ebay. I got some lip smackers (back then when Malaysia doesn't have this!) and picked up this balm as well since the seller also has them. :D

Out of the carrots, melon, etc flavour options, I picked up the "Mint" flavour since I always love the "minty" sensation on my lips. :D

Also, it's stated 95% organic, au-naturale~

Hydrate. Conditions. Soothes.... does it? hmm....
Length in check!

Lip Butter "swatch"!

Size: 0.15oz / 4.25g

Price: I got it around $3+ (it's less than $4) on ebay since Malaysia doesn't have it (I think?)

Made In: USA

My thoughts:
Not bad! I quite like the mint flavour on this one. It stays on quite awhile compared to my other balms. It glides on very smoothly, and it is also very buttery (hence the name!). Consistency wise, it is also much thicker than most of my other balms. Moisture wise, it is still consider okay (for me). It has a very slight sheen (see swatch above) and note it does not give any "moisture-look" like what I have experienced with MLS.

Overall, the lip butter does stay quite a while on my lips (probably 2-3 hours - under air-con room). It doesn't wear-off easily and it really does keep the lips soft and buttery smooth. If you have dry lips, probably can have a try on this one as it does keep my flacky dry lips off the bay for a while. :)

Would I repurchase this? May be not for now (since I prefer MLS which gives me a more moisture feel :D)

The ingredients that you may want to know....

That's all for my short review. I wish everyone a very good weekend ahead! :)

NYX Mega Shine Lipgloss - Natural

February 26, 2010

I guess most of the people out there may have already seen these for the 1089273483595238459 time already. =P So hopefully this 1089273483595238460 entry won't bore you off. =)

Not long ago, I bought this one from Nonpareilboutique's when I saw their thumbnail pic of these.

gorgeous right?

And so, I got this NYX Mega Shine Lipgloss in Natural. A very very boring and safe shade, for an "un"adventurous me. =P

BTW, mine was the old packaging. The newer version of this is much simpler.

Compared to my previous NYX Round Lip Gloss, this megashine is also a little longer.

The lip brush.

And the color swatch.

Dark plumy colored gloss, almost perfect for my pigmented lips.

I don't really judge the color from the website. Quite misleading at times. =\

On me.

Product: 15ml

Description from NYX website:
NYX's signature lipgloss offers a creamy, lacquer finish with high-impact color pay-off and incredible shine and sheen. This makeup artists' favorite can be used as both a gloss or a stain depending on the application technique. This gloss contains minerals and lanolin oils to condition and moisturize lips.

Price: $5 from NYX and $3.75 from Nonpareilboutique

My thoughts:
I like this!

Texture and consistency wise, this NYX Megashine lipgloss is slightly sticky but tolerable. The gloss consistency is thicker and staying power is slightly longer than NYX Round Lipgloss as well. As for the scent, it doesn't have any strong scent to it, unlike NYX Round Lipgloss that has a lemony scent. What attracts me to this is the "SHINE" that it gives. I don't like those "glossy" effect but this natural-colored megashine LG gives the "shiny but matte" effect. Also, it covers up my lip lines quite well when I layered two coats of it.

Comparing with my NYX Round Lipgloss, there's a slight difference between the two. Mainly on the brush and the gloss texture and consistency.

And the swatches of both.

Therefore, if you like moisture & "slippery" gloss texture, go for NYX Round Lip Gloss. If you prefer shine and thicker texture of gloss, go for Megashine's version. I haven't tried the other NYX glosses but these two are quite good (and affordable!) IMO. =)

Quick Review: AESOP Rosehip Seed Lip Cream & Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm

February 12, 2010

I've seen a lot of advertisements of Aesop in Beauty Mags but I never try them myself until I was at one of the "Invitation-only" event in Parkson. Hmph!

Seriously, I wasn't attracted to them as I had the perception that the brand is targeted to more "mature" skin users. >_<
I like the way they arrange the things. Very pro-looking.

Some "discounts" deco.

Test me, test me!! =P

Since my friend was looking for beauty products to hit the "RM250" target (to get the stupid goodie bag. >.<) , she was eyeing on AESOP after hearing good things about their lipbalm & hand cream. Ok, so maybe these things never came into my mind since I don't used them that often!

First off, she tried the hand cream from them. I think this is the one which can be found from AESOP's website.

Perfected moisturising balm for hands and cuticles.

This greaseless formulation of hydrating botanicals will transform even the most abused hands. Massage a small amount into clean hands for superb hydrating and softening benefits. Excellent for rough skin, cuticles and nails, this balm is an Aesop classic. May be used all over the body, and is especially good massaged into dry, tired feet at night before retiring.

I couldn't much judge about this one as I only tried them once. My friend bought the smaller tube one so I'll asked her about it after she used them. :) I can only say it feels greasy at first but this cream absorbed really well and quite quickly too!

Next is their lip balm which my friend has almost tempted me to get them.. haha.. but failed! =P

The lady told us this was also one of their newest product. Hm.

Product on me.

Seriously, even though it's a cream formula kind of lipbalm but it does not attract me to it.

Why?
Because it dries off pretty quickly!! My lips feel matte and somewhat dry after 15 minutes of application. Since my lips chapped pretty badly, I don't think this will work for me even though I like the "matte" look of it. And oh, it's RM45 if I remembered correctly.

Oh, and the lady there also my friend to fill up the particulars for upcoming newsletters.

I don't think I'll get anything from them anytime now since they don't appeal to me at the first place. Hee hee.. So if you got anything from them, do share!

Crazy Rumors Lip Balm Review

January 26, 2010

Yeah. Lip balm brand number three. First was Vintage Sisters and Second was My Lip Stuff. :D

The best thing about lip balms is that they never goes out of style because they are colorless(well, most of them!) and they "protect" the lips from flacking and chapping.

I got two boxes of these yummy balms. You read it right. Dua kotak. 6 x 2 = 12 balms for 1 person. LOL! In the end, I have to sell them away here coz I can't finish them.

edit: I didn't know they only have 4 flavours for each category now. so outdated! sorry! :P

Here's one of the boxes.

A la mode means:
A La Mode Lip Balms swirl the sweetest, most delectable Ice Cream Flavors together with nature's most extraordinarily moisturizing ingredients to leave your pout in pucker up mode.

Yeah, crazy I know.

And they are vegan too!

Made in the U-S-A!

The balm.

Sleek designs huh?

Ingredients:

Yummylicious!

This is Orange Creamsicle by the way. Just spelling out the name makes me craving for orange juice >.<

On the lips.

The Product:0.15oz
Price: $4 @ Crazy Rumors

My thoughts:
I would like to compare this against the 3 balms that I've used and I'll conclude my thoughts on these balms.

When I compared with MLS (My lip stuff balm), it shows that MLS is more moisturizing than Crazy Rumors.

See the difference?

If compared with Vintage Sister's balm, they were pretty comparable!

The effect from VS and Crazy Rumors looked and felt literally the same on the lips. But in terms of their moisturizing level, Vintage Sister balms are a little more moisturizing than Crazy Rumors.

Here's the three of them on the lips.

MLS = My Lip Stuff
CR= Crazy Rumors
VS = Vintage Sister

On to my thoughts, I wouldn't be able to generalize each of them because it is more of a personal preference. If you prefer more moisturizing ones, MLS has pretty good ones and have over 400 flavours too! If you look for less sheens/matte ones, then either get Vintage Sister or Crazy Rumors.

As a side note, all these balms have to be stored at a cool area. Do not left them under the sun because they do melt right away! But then again, you can get them back in shape by putting them into the refrigerator.

Here's some shipping information for those who are interested in Crazy Rumors:-
$6 if you buy only a few sticks or free shipping if your purchase is $75 or more!

I couldn't comment much on their shipping rates as it is pretty much comparable from other brands. Overall, I do like my MLS more even though Crazy Rumors has a nicer packaging. But don't worry Crazy Rumors, I still have you as my back up balm in the office! Hee Hee. :D
