Kiehl's Super Multi-Corrective Cream

December 10, 2014

After 1 year long of hiatus, it's so tough for me to write a review now.

And yes, it's been almost 1 year now I've used this cream. I got this cream right after 1 month of my confinement. Just to get myself prep to work, I need all the booster stuff to ensure my face doesn't scare people off when I get back to work. So why Kiehl's? Well, I would say it's convinient at that point of time, plus since I've tried a few moisturizer that suits me in the past, so I thought, why not?

· Multi-targeted anti-aging moisturizer that corrects the most visible signs of aging
· Lifts, firms, sculpts contours and smoothes skin
· Clinically proven to significantly improve skin
· Paraben Free, Fragrance Free, Safe for sensitive skin
Price: RM 220

You can get pretty much info from their website unless 1 day they decided to take off this product which is the same as my Yerbamate moisturizer.. :(

My thoughts:
My third moisturizer from Kiehl's. It was not bad after 11 months of using it. And I still have a quarter of the bottle (because I don't slab on moisturizer at night).

My points:
+ Feels hydrated.
+ No strong fragrance.
+ Glide on easily on skin.

- Takes a while to absorb on the skin.
- Would prefer if they change into a pump type bottle. For jar type, you will need to dip your finger into the product, less hygienic I would say.

Overall not bad. But I don't know why most moisturizers doesn't come cheap. This sells for RM220. If I'm not mistaken, it is the most expensive moisturizers compared to the rest. Multi function I guess.
In terms of improving skin, I would say no significantly improves, firms up maybe a little, lifting maybe not really. So I guess maybe because I do not used it at night, hence the impact and effect was not there though.

To repurchase again? Maybe not, I would go for another cheaper alternative maybe...

One more thing, I would recommend to use up the moisturizer within the stated period (12 months). I find that the smell went off a bit now. Especially one of their midnight oil which cost a bomb doesn't have its frangrance anymore. :( But I'll leave that for the next post!

Thats all for now! =)

le sigh.

April 9, 2014

Yea, so if you see me posting, it doesn't mean that I'm very free. I'm still a busy person, a busy employee, busy mom, busy daughter, busy wife, and busy-body! Ha!

Anyway, I'm now a mother of two for almost 4 months now. And yes, I do not have time to write a blog post, and if I do, it only shows two things:-
1. Either I'm too free
2. Or I need a place to vent

For today, it is reason no. 2.

I'm so so so so stress out actually. And I'm going crazy. I do not have enough time to rest, and neither I do have time to do "business". I hardly rest, and if I do, it's about 2 or 3 hours max. I don't usually complain but if I do, it is because of my hectic work schedule is killing me! I still do enjoy being a mother despite I only sleep 3-4 hours a day.

Anyway, I digress. It's not about motherhood for the intention of this post.

I just want to say that nowadays I'm relying too much on the Internet. Everything and Anything that I want to know, I always look for Mr Google. Mr Google never fails me but the judgement and perception that I get, sometimes do drive me to the wrong side of the planet!

Just like how I dye my hair with Liese! Sigh. I just want everything quick and easy. But anyway, when things are done without thinking carefully, it's a lesson learn for me.

So now ladies and gentlemen, I beg you bloggers if you are trying to review something, please do it sincerely! I know everyone has different expectations and different opinions, but sometimes it is very obvious when the stuff reviewed is too good to be true! :(

Tested Recipe : Lor Mai Kai and a little change of direction

September 25, 2013

Time flies! and yes, I'm getting way much older nowadays, and not experimenting much of the skincare stuff since I'm pretty much tired (preggie and due in Nov soon).

But speaking of food, I never get tired of it. lol. Blame it all because the priorities have changed and of coz, I've changed my blog title if you have noticed that above. Maybe I'll post some skincare stuff when I have the mood and guts to show my fat face. LOL.

Anyway, my intention of posting some of the recipes that I've tried is because I tend to forget how the outcome was after testing out some of the blogger's food recipes. In the end, I pretty much yield a not so good result since not all baking instruments behave the same way.

So here goes. My latest cooking result from Sonia's recipe for Lor Mai Kai (I pretty much crave for this whenever I see a dim sum shop but I try to limit myself since glutinous rice creates "wind").

Lor Mai Kai
Recipe from :Sonia @ Nasilemaklover

Additional remarks:
  • I made double batch of it and it made about almost 20.
  • I omitted the chinese sausage.
  • Salt I omitted but should replaced with additional 1 or 2 tbsp of soy sauce.
  • I did not use aluminium foil bowls (they are expensive! about RM1 each). I just used some bowls and cups (lol) for steaming purposes.
  • Shallot oil I did not follow but should have kept the shallot oil to be put into the rice before cooking. I fry mushroom + dried shrimps straight away hence the oil was "dried" up.
Overall, the taste was good and the rice was soft after steaming! =)

MIA mode still going strong ...

April 1, 2013

I had not been writing for such a long time. Even to start a new post takes me months to get it done. *I'm so sorry blog*. I should just renamed my blog then.

I'm not into so much of venturing nowadays, not sure if it's because I'm way behind a lot of things plus nothing fancy me that much anymore.

Am still looking for a good mascara, Silkgirl actually impressed me at first but it gets worst when the rest of the series is not doing the job! Any suggestions?

Gotta rest myself and get back to work. See ya chicas!

Bye November!!!

November 30, 2012

Heh. Obviously there's not much to post in the year because I was so busy with my girl. And time sure flies!! Miss reading all the updates so I'm dropping by to say hi if you are reading this. :)

Quick one to hit my first post of the year 2012 :)

Bye bye 2011!!

December 30, 2011

Hello fellow earthlings .. :D

It's been 8 months already, I know! :D

Here's my little *notty, minnie-like, santarina* of 8.5 months. (All my time is used to serve my little Queenie).

I just want to drop by and say hello actually and a quick wrap up of 2011.

Many ups and downs. We have an additional member (The queen) and also lost two members (my MIL and grandma at the same time - had a major emo time since this was a consecutive event).

Work has been killing me, quite badly.. bruises everywhere with blood sucked dry. LOL.

And not to mention my face.. is getting ... pretty "Fancy" .. :x

But I'm looking forward for a better year in 2012! So happy new year everyone and see you next year! =)

So here goes...

So yea, I've delivered this cheeky little baby girl on 15 April. Thousand of apologies for not reverting back on the questions my friends! =)

Pretty much on a rocky side of delivery where I didn't planned for a c-sect last minute due to her head position is not engaged (maybe she was too comfy in her momma's womb :P) plus she's overdue too. -_-
Also, I was re-admitted twice ... geez.. don't want to go into detail about it.

Anyway, here's a toast to my 2 weeks baby. Like finally! 2 more weeks before my confinement ends (and prolly the nightmare begins?!). LOL!

Will update again soon!

Sorry...

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant, fine and gentle!

March 5, 2011

I got this some time back last year when I was stocking up my cleansing gel. I wasn't skeptical about trying this as I've seen many reviews around, either from Youtube or from the blogging world. And my, this is really "micro" to me as a scrub!

The description that comes with it.

One thing I do not like about this is the dispenser. Look how messy it is!

Because this scrub is oh-so-super-fine-yo.. you don't need such "big holes" to dispense the product. I'll tell you more about this in the later section.

The daily microfoliant!

It does look like baby powder or some super-fine rice flour, right!

From Dermalogica's website stated that...
This unique Rice-based enzyme powder microfoliates dulling debris and instantly leaves skin noticeably smoother and brighter. Contains no artificial fragrance or color. All skin conditions.

You may find other description that describe the product like this too..
This is a truly unique rice-based enzyme powder that microfoliates dulling debris and instantly leaves the skin noticeably smoother and brighter. The powder formula activates upon contact with water, releasing Papain, Salicylic Acid and Rice actives to smooth the skin and accelerate cell renewel. Daily Microfoliant is also formulated with a unique skin brightening complex of Bearberry, Aspergillus, Grapefruit and Licorice to help balance uneven skin pigmentation. A super soothing blend of Green Tea, Ginkgo and Colloidal Oatmeal calms inflammation, leaving the skin extraordinarily clear and refreshed.

Product size: 13g (I believed this is a sample size)
Product price: 75g for RM228 (Retail Price)

My thoughts:
This is one of Dermalogica's best selling products. Super-fine rice-based scrub. Just wet your hands and pour a little bit of the powder and you are good to enjoy good face scrubbing time!
And does it live up to the hype? Well, maybe yes and no for me.

Let's start with the "No"s.
1) Very obvious- the price. xD 75g for RM228 is ridiculously expensive. Maybe I'm wrong about the price but I did ask around and you may get at a cheaper rate if you are their member or something. But still, it's expensive!

2) This rice-based enzyme powder scrub is too fine! Heh! If you like the coarse feeling of scrub like St. Ives or Mint Juleps'(which I will review later on), then you may not like this one. This one feels like soothing some fine powder onto your face.

3) The dispenser. Gah! I brought this out for travelling since it's small and "check-in"-able to the plane, but in the end, I got spillage when I opened up the bottle. Ended up with wastage. *sheesh*

About the good points..
It leaves a smooth silky feel after using this product. It's a "temporary" feeling but it does feels good when you touch your face. Somewhat like baby smooth skin! :D

Also, you don't need a lot for each scrub session. Like mine, this little bottle last me for quite a while. I don't use this daily even though it sure is gentle for everyday use. I only use this like 4-5 days once. Hence, the saving of $$. Hee hee.

By the way, it doesn't have fragrance to this which is okay for me. But sometimes it does bother me abit since it has the "rice" smell. Especially when this is the last step for the face routine after cleansing. :P

Would I repurchase this again? Maybe. When I'm not tight on budgeting. But still, I would prefer a more abrasive scrub than a gentle one. =D

So, what's your take on this?

Nature Republic - Eau de Shine Prism Blossom Powder Review

February 23, 2011

Despite of the opening prmotion from Nature republic (which was ages ago when they first landed in Penang), I grabbed this Prism Blossom Powder off the shelf together with the aqua sunblock. I was not actually attracted to the discount (20% at that time) which is already attractive enough, but was drooling at packaging of this powder. So elegant, can!

Too bad I tossed away the box already. I couldn't get hold more of the information on this (especially on the instructions/ingredients) part. Even if I had them, I don't think I would be able to read them since it was all in Korean (yikes!).

Here comes the eye-candy pictures!

Comes with a powder puff (ignore the dirty-old puff ya).

Printed with the name.

Prism Blossom Powder. Four colors that is segregated into four compartments!

Looking fine over here!

Finely milled.

Plus it comes with free shimmers that comes together with the orangey/beigey powder.

Spot it?

Product Size: 20g
Product Price: It's about RM89.90 (if I'm not mistaken, or RM69.90)Will update again when I get this from the store.

My thoughts:
This is one of their star product, as claimed from the SA at the Nature Republic counter. And my my, it was still out of stock the last time I went there surveying before my Korea trip back in December.

Truth to be told, I actually like the powder. It's more like a finishing powder or loose powder to me. Even though it has slight shimmers, it does not really bother me as it does not create extra "shine" to the face. Oil control wise is good as well. And it does smell nice too! I think most of the items from Nature Republic has fragrance / parfum in it. Not sure if it's a trend but I do notice many Korean cosmetics and skin care items contains quite an amount of fragrance/parfum in their products.

Also, the SA also did mentioned to me that this powder can be worn alone after sunscreen. No foundation or BB cream needed prior to this. Since it's a finishing powder, please don't expect coverage from the powder. =)

Overall, I'm quite satisfied with the powder even though the packaging is huge (sorry, didn't get to measure this). And yes, it does take up a little more space compared to my previous loose powders. =D

Would I repurchase again? Maybe, if I ever ran out of this one (which I doubt at the moment).

So have you tried anything from Nature Republic's cosmetic line? Do share any other product that you like. Would love to try out some other stuff too!

Wet n Wild Color Icon Blusher, like finally!

February 14, 2011

Yes! Finally I had the courage to open up my new blusher! LOL!

This is because I had a very bad habit of buying and buying and buying without thinking if I really need these babies. :P Please excuse myself for self confessing! :P

Anyway, let me introduce you another new blusher called Wet n Wild Color Icon Blusher. =)

May I present you the introduction for this baby.
Wet n Wild Color Icon Blusher is a luxuriously smooth formula that provides a transparent sheen and a radiant pop of color to cheek for a natural glow. Infused with a special blend of treated nylon powders, Wet n Wild Color Icon Blusher delivers a long lasting color. Wet n Wild blush is dermatologist-tested.

Usage description:
Sweep on wnw Color Icon Blush that strikes the perfect balance between a blendable transparent sheen and a radiant pop of maximum color. A special blend of treated nylon powders provides long-lasting color. Dermatologist-tested.

The packaging at the back.

Up close of the color that I got - Pearlescent Pink.

It does look a little dark here and in real life, the color is almost what you see as above.

Also, it comes with a little brush.

And the brush is uber-dissapointing. *hiks*

Why?? Do I need to say more?

The swatch.

And on hand.

Product size: 0.14oz 4g
Product price: $3 (from Nonpareilboutique)

My thoughts:
This blusher is quite pigmented by itself, very powdery and quite finely milled too. Something like my previous ELF Blusher. Because of the "fragility" of the blusher, I have to hold it up firmly, just in case the floor "catches" it instead of me. =\ Also, fragance is very minimal too, I don't think it does have any strong scent attached to this one.

On the other hand, I still don't see myself reaching for this blusher as much as I does with my other MAC blushers. This is because I noticed that my brush tend to get "more" product than it should and I always have to tap it off a few times just to get the "extras" off from the brush, hence the wastage and messy-ness. Hmph! And no, I'm not talking about the brush that comes with this, because the brush that comes with it is too coarse for my liking. :(

But for $3, how can I expect so much for a blusher? If I had a choice, I would prefer to go for ELF blushers instead of this one because the prior's texture is somewhat a little more "smooth" and has a slight "silky with sheen" finish upon application.

Would I repurchase this?
No. But I'm glad I've tried it and it does kill any future lemmings that comes from this line at the moment. Sorry WnW!

The ingredients:

So have you tried this one yet?

There It Goes Again...

February 10, 2011

Are you a deodorant user?

Well , I am, since I was a teen with those sweaty armpits that drive me (and my parents back in the school days) mad.

Because the sweat stained my white school shirts. *blush*

I've used quite a lot of brands for deodorant but there's always a case where...

I just cannot understand why it leaks!!! :( All the time!

Even I put it upright, sideways... it still does the leaking thing. Ish!

Anyone has a way to solve this please?

Even with the instruction on how to close the cap does not even help the leaking problem. :(

Argh!

I've tried to clean them several times, checked the roller and all, but the problem still happens after that. =(

Gah! Please help me ya....

Last but not least, some information that you may want to know..

Note on the instruction: "Shake well with cap on"... I don't even dare to shake it in case the whole thing leaks out even more... geez...

Bio Essence 24K Bio-Gold Eye Contour Lifting Serum, the Wonder Gold!

February 9, 2011

Do you believed that "gold" really does "wonders" to your skin? I did a quick check on Mr. Google and found out that it is believed that 24k gold can help the skin reverse the sign of aging. Hm.. it does leave me ponder about it.....

Anyway, long story cut short, I did bought this "wonder gold" set end of last year in one of the local drugstore (I think it was Guardian). And the thing that attracted me was that this 24K thing was on some sort of promotion that is going for RM149 (if I'm not mistaken) where the original RP is RM179.90.

I'm not sure if I'm correct on this one but the serum selling individually was about RM90 (was it? or more?).

Overall, the 3-in-1 set feels "more worthy" when it comes with a face and neck cream plus additional facial cleanser. =D

Back of the box.

So what does Bio Essence say about 24K Gold?

Sounds powerful right?

Here's the product I'm going to review today. Face and neck cream will be done at a later stage since I don't really use that much of the gel yet.

The pump that I always prefer skincare items to have.

The amount that you get.

Spot the gold!

Don't you think the serum has more liquid that the gold? =/

Tiny weany gold flakes! 99% serum with 1% gold flake? Hm..

Here's the promotion picture from the Bio Essence Website.

Product Size: 20g
Product Price: RM149 (promotion price that comes in the set of 3 items: eye serum, face and neck cream, cleanser).

My Thoughts:
Out of the points stated in the promotional ads, I don't think I saw any obvious results using this.

Well, on the good points is that it does feel lightweighted and not oily hence I don't see any "extra" oil seeds from using it. The serum does also settle on the skin really quickly and it has very minimal fragrance. I do feel my puffy eyebags firms up a little bit but I don't think I see any "lifting" on this one.

Also, it is said that it can reduces wrinkles but I don't think it does reduces the lines around my eye area though. As long as it doesn't create "extra" fine lines or wrinkles, this is good enough for me.

But anyway on the double plus point, I like how elegant the packaging looks! My other eye serum looked very "boring" but this one does stand out from the "crowd". LOL!

Will I repurchase this?
Not for now as I think there are many other eye serums that I want to try first out there. =)

So have you use this 24K eye lifting serum before? Do share your thoughts as well and I may be the only one not "feeling" it. =)
