Kiehls Yerba Maté Tea Gel-Cream Review

April 22, 2010

Apologized for the long hiatus, lovely people. Gotta blame my slowmo in settling some work stuff going on. =)

Nevertheless, here's an update on my long-time purchase in Dec-09.

The Yerb-uh Mah-tay (As describe by Kiehls) gel-cream.

I don't know why they doesn't have it on their website but here's the actual stuff with details.

The color sure is striking. =)

Don't be alarm at the price though...

With expire date details at the bottom.

I'll show you Kiehl's version, only in lotion-form though.

And hopefully the pic below don't gross you out!

I've been using this for four months plus now. Everyday, night and day. Long enough for a review, kan (right)? =)

Here's how the moisturizer looks like.. (ignore the "reddish" hand though..)

Let's get down to the real thing.

Yerba maté , as in YERB-uh MAH-tay is actually a herb which is something like our green tea. From wikipedia, it is consumed either by itself or with lemonade (similar to our ice lemon tea). Also, do you know that it has antiobesity and cholestrol properties too? You can look up these things through wikipedia on these.

Here's some interesting photos from wiki..

Onto Kiehls facts:-
Yerba Maté
YERB-uh MAH-tay
A nutrient-packed botanical native to South America, contains practically all of the vitamins necessary to sustain life. Yerba Maté is known to contain 24 vitamins and minerals (including vitamins A, C, E, B-1, and B-2), 15 amino acids, and 11 polyphenols (powerful anti-oxidants).

Taken from their lotion version:-
With Vitamin-Infused Tea Extracts for a Healthful Skin Vivacity
Oil-Free Moisturizer
Suitable for all skin types
Helps improve skin texture, clarity and radiance
Not tested on animals

And their description:-
This oil-free moisturizer, suitable for all skin types, is formulated with an extract derived from Yerba Maté, an extraordinary South American herb, to help infuse skin with all it needs to combat dullness and maintain its healthful and youthful vivacity. Our lightweight lotion helps improve skin texture, clarity and radiance without clogging pores.

Product Size: 50ml
Product Price: RM150 ($35 for Kiehls YERBA MATÉ TEA LOTION)

My thoughts:
Compared to their Ultra Facial Cream, I love this one more.

Frankly speaking, the first impression of this cream doesn't appeal to me at all. Not only the smell is somewhat weird, the look and feel of the cream doesn't do any help as well.

I still remembered their KCR persuading me to give this a go instead of buying the full size version of Ultra Facial Cream. Well, big kudos to her for that! I literally fell in love with this after one full month of using this. I believe the longer you use this, the love will grow with this gel-like-cream. =D (sounds like I'm choosing Mr. Right.. hee hee)

But anyway, the scent of this cream grows gradually on me. It doesn't smell bad actually, just a little like raw herb kinda smell. The best thing of this is that the cream gives a matte feel and matte finish to it. Keeps oil at bay too! (*thumbs up*). I felt really bad for my all-rounder-HG-moisturizer. =P And nope, I'm still sticking to the all-rounder because Penang doesn't have Kiehls!! (if Kiehls is reading this, please do open one here.. my gel-cream is hitting the bottom soon! LOL!)

As for cons, I don't fancy the packaging. I prefer the bottle/pump type instead of the jar-types. If they would provide a spatula with this, it would be a better companion with this so we wont contaminate the cream so easily.

By the way, to use this cream, you'll need to massage the cream until it is fully absorbed. The cream doesn't able to absorb quickly maybe because of it's gel+cream texture. So it is best to take some effort to massage them thoroughly.

Will I repurchase this?
Yes! (if only there's a counter here in Penang. xD)

China Glaze Khrome Collection - 2030

April 12, 2010

First and foremost, "No" to converting this blog into nail-polish-related-review blog. :P

Sorry, just my current obsession. My bad, but I promise this will be the last one for this month! =)

So, here you go. 2030 from China Glaze Khrome Collection!

Here's the promo pic from China Glaze website:-

The 2030 doesn't look the same compare to the real color though (the second one from the right).

Aren't 2030 pretty???

Especially with jeans! xD *loveeeee*

But I think the application is a little streaky though. =\

Only one coat of 2030 is sufficient. I did tried 2 coats but the application became uneven and streakier. x\

With the bottle.

The color swatch pic from Transdesign is even worst. LOL! Totally not in sync with the real color.

Anyway, this 2030 cleans off like a dream. Unlike my Ruby Pumps and Dorothy who?. Those two are driving me crazy with their shimmers.

Last but not least, the product code & ingredients.

Okie, gotta run now! A new work week! Wishing all having a good week ahead! =)

China Glaze Four Leave Clover (super salah foto)

April 7, 2010

I haven't been able to blog these days. Either it's because of the housework, or it's is because of me. =\

Anyway, back to my nail polish fever. I got China Glaze's Four Leave Clover during my first ever haul with Transdesign.

And my-my, such a pain to get the real color out....

And I gave up! x(

*taken under sunlight*

PLEASE DONT LOOK AT THE UGLY APPLICATION (even though my CAPS has draw your attention to it. :P).

Seriously, if China Glaze Four Leave Clover looks like that, then it's pretty! xD

But too bad, the camera couldn't capture the real thing! The color is all W-R-O-N-G. =(

See the product pic? I got this by searching from Google, but still it's wrong. The actual color looks more green instead of bluish green.
If you look at the pic above, the swatch color code looks pretty similar to the actual color in real life.

Anyway, PolishPolice has a good one that looks pretty similar.

See? A lot of difference compared to mine. I saw quite a few review sites has the same color effect as mine too but I don't think it is the right one. =\

Anyway, anyone has tips how to capture the correct Greens and Reds in the photos? It is really annoying especially when this kind of photos need extra time & patience(!!) to edit them. *pulls hair and runs away*

Gah, Sigma Makeup Brushes!

April 1, 2010

*pardon me, the topic sounds pretty misleading, I know. xD*

Yes. Brushes, from Sigma Make up again. Well, you may say I do have a fetish for brushes. =P

First, please pick up your jaw if you think these are all mine.*hiaks* I did a spree for this early March and now they have gone to their respective owners already. So don't worry, I'm still "normal". TQVM xD

I actually wanted to share how they look like compared to the product pictures on Sigma's website as I got a few questions on Sigma's brushes via email a few times already. So here's some pictures for you, sweet people. =)

(1) Naughty in Black Travel Set - $49

Sigma Makeup product pic:-

Actual goodies:-

Sigma packed them with these little bags. Cute!

And the brush roll that comes with it.

Compare to the regular ones, this travel kit brushes has shorter brush handles.

(2) Professional Premium Kit $149

The price tag *$149* looks a little scary huh? But you get what you have paid for. =)

Sigma Makeup product pic:-

15 brushes with a brush roll. =) Quite cute with their packaging, like a box. =D

Actual goodies:-

Hold on to your saliva, please behave! xD

I still haven't really use them yet. But the brushes quality felt pretty similar with my previous kit. =D

Some random ones.

Take 2.

I know there may be too many "overrated" or "promotional" reviews on Sigma Makeup's brushes. But to me, they are pretty much up to standard for what you are paying for. I still love them despite I still get occasional bleeding and shedding from the brushes. xD

Oh, and one thing I noticed that the premium kit brushes aren't as "flumsy" (flimsy+clumsy xD) as my face&eye kit brushes. The brush handles are pretty much "lighter" and feels quite similar with my MAC ones. Well, go get one and judge by yourself, I wouldn't want to get "somewhat accused" that Sigma is paying me to say this. (if only it happens, sigh xD)

Got to go for now, I need to catch up with some blog readings. xD

PS: I won't be doing another review on this as I think they are pretty much comparable with what I have. You'll have to look out for my reviews here. =)
