I'm Not a Doctor but I Dissect Them

February 27, 2010

Hee hee. An unofficial doctor, maybe? =)

You may have heard that people dissect their UDPP for more primer, but since I don't have UDPP, I dissect my tube cleanser. =)

*please excuse my fugly chipped nails. =)*

I have done this not only to my cleanser but also to my hair conditioners as well.

Don't waste them, even they cost just a few cents. =)

As for the cleanser, it's another product from Niu Er. I bought this many months (uhm..years maybe?) back and I think they have discontinued them since I don't see this cleanser anymore.

Product: Niu Er Advanced Hydrating Facial Cleansing Cream.

I can only do a quick review since I don't have much details of them anymore now. =)

Description in Chinese.

In tube.

Texture wise.

My thoughts:
This is a cream cleanser. Hence, don't expect to get foams/bubbles from this one.

I dislike the scent for this one as it has a strong creamy vit.E smell, just like those conventional moisturizer scent. However, this mild cleanser cleanse well and leave skin moisturized without feeling tight. I think this cleanser suits sensitive skin types as well. Anyway, if you still see this on their Payeasy website, do let me know (I might have overlooked them).

Til then, have a good weekend ahead people. =)

NYX Mega Shine Lipgloss - Natural

February 26, 2010

I guess most of the people out there may have already seen these for the 1089273483595238459 time already. =P So hopefully this 1089273483595238460 entry won't bore you off. =)

Not long ago, I bought this one from Nonpareilboutique's when I saw their thumbnail pic of these.

gorgeous right?

And so, I got this NYX Mega Shine Lipgloss in Natural. A very very boring and safe shade, for an "un"adventurous me. =P

BTW, mine was the old packaging. The newer version of this is much simpler.

Compared to my previous NYX Round Lip Gloss, this megashine is also a little longer.

The lip brush.

And the color swatch.

Dark plumy colored gloss, almost perfect for my pigmented lips.

I don't really judge the color from the website. Quite misleading at times. =\

On me.

Product: 15ml

Description from NYX website:
NYX's signature lipgloss offers a creamy, lacquer finish with high-impact color pay-off and incredible shine and sheen. This makeup artists' favorite can be used as both a gloss or a stain depending on the application technique. This gloss contains minerals and lanolin oils to condition and moisturize lips.

Price: $5 from NYX and $3.75 from Nonpareilboutique

My thoughts:
I like this!

Texture and consistency wise, this NYX Megashine lipgloss is slightly sticky but tolerable. The gloss consistency is thicker and staying power is slightly longer than NYX Round Lipgloss as well. As for the scent, it doesn't have any strong scent to it, unlike NYX Round Lipgloss that has a lemony scent. What attracts me to this is the "SHINE" that it gives. I don't like those "glossy" effect but this natural-colored megashine LG gives the "shiny but matte" effect. Also, it covers up my lip lines quite well when I layered two coats of it.

Comparing with my NYX Round Lipgloss, there's a slight difference between the two. Mainly on the brush and the gloss texture and consistency.

And the swatches of both.

Therefore, if you like moisture & "slippery" gloss texture, go for NYX Round Lip Gloss. If you prefer shine and thicker texture of gloss, go for Megashine's version. I haven't tried the other NYX glosses but these two are quite good (and affordable!) IMO. =)

Sofia Jasmin & Grapeseed Extract Facial 茉莉 葡 萄 籽 面 膜

February 23, 2010

Sofia oh Sofia.. =) What a nice brand name.

Actually, this is my first time using this brand. Got it from Fiobeauty again.

The package design is nothing fancy like My Scheming Mask or Beauty Diary masks though.

Super plain and simple.

Anyway, I googled this Sofia mask and found out they have this new packaging.

Nicer than the ones I have, hmph. =\

A quick comparison between My Scheming mask and Sofia's packaging.

Not much right?!

Back to the mask. Here's the little details of the packaging.

And the back.

Unlike those usual illustrations that you see from"> My Scheming masks, this is Sofia's version.

Translation:

1. After cleanse face
2. Put on the sheet mask
3. Wait for 15-20 minutes
4. Take off the mask, need not rinse.

Other info:

To the test!

Full of yummy serum. =D

Unlike the other masks, no additional "plastic" wrapper that comes with it.

On me.

A little longer at the nose area. Other than that, very fitting. =)

The Product: 30ml ;
Price: RM2.50 from Fiobeauty I don't see them on her site anymore now. =)

My thoughts:
I like it! The serum consistency is slightly more watery than My Scheming Masks. Also, my skin absorbs the serum much quicker than My Scheming Mask too! I can felt the sheet mask a little "dry" after 20 minutes of using it. Or maybe I can put it this way --> The serum evaporates into the air much faster due to the watery consistency. =) BTW, do you know that grapeseed extract is an antioxidant to fight against skin aging process? Jasmine added to this mask is for soothing and calming the skin too!

Overall, here's the results.

Not bad I'd say, much higher moisture level than my other Scheming masks. But like I said, sheet mask is always a "temporary solution" to the skin. I can only say that my face feels soft and hydrated like my other sheet mask experiences. Aging or no aging, no idea though.

Last but not least, the ingredient list.

So have you tried Sofia masks?

Faking It On a Sunday

February 21, 2010

Yeah, faking me lashes I mean. =P

From the naked one to the faking it ones. LOL.

I actually didn't wear falsies for such a long time already! I used to wear them when I go out for dining occasions but I'm too lazy now as I'm always in the rush. =\

But because I was testing out my Wet N' Wild liquid liner, I thought it's time to take my falsies out for "work" ! =P

My tools.

Since I always had a "heavy eyelid" problem, I tried to use half of the falsies instead. (my eyelid seems to "eat" up the falsies, hence it doesn't seem to make any difference when I put on them).

Take half out of two saves $$$ too! hahaha.

For this, I used MAC Steel Blue pigment and a little MAC Brash & Bold pigment with Detrivore Shadow Primer.

It seems the primer seems to eat up all the shimmers pigments and I had quite a hard time with them. Argh. I'll get into more details when I review them. =\

I lined with Wet N' Wild's liquid liner (upper eyelid) and used Sephora Black Flashy Liner (undereye).

I like the picture angle for this! Actually, I took more than 40 photos just to capture the falsies! My cam just don't focus at the right place, sometimes.

Because I have superduperfine under eyelashes, I tried to put the falsies below instead. haha. Crazy.

And my oh my, the Shu Uemura's glue stings my eye big time!! =( Too near the waterline I guess.

So I did this instead.

See any difference? =)

Maybe this picture can help!

I drew them. hee hee. But the liner just didn't stay put. =( Gah!

Comparison between my naked eye and "fakingit"eye.

Make up and no make up really does make a difference. =P

Anyway, that's all for today though. Back to reviews tomorrow! =)

Hot Weather Makes Me Lazy!!!

February 20, 2010

Yeah. Apologized for the hiatus. The weather here drives me crazy (weather is super hot & humid almost every Chinese New Year!).

I couldn't think of anything but to dedicate this post to our Stash Winner - Shira. Hee hee.

Once again, congrats to Shira! Btw, I didn't know she's located in Malaysia too! =D Small world. xD

No, I'm not using USPS postal service. It's the box that is so sturdy that makes me want to torture put these pigments for a safer journey. =D Plus environmental friendly too (recycle!) !

Last but not least.

Just for laughs. =D

Shira, you may get them within this few days, or maybe you have already gotten them. Do inform ya! =D

Detrivore Cosmetics Haul : Shadow Primer & Eyeshadow Pigments

February 16, 2010

First and foremost, Happy Chinese New Year!!! =D

Today I'm going to show you my recent haul! hee hee. The parcel just arrived right before CNY. Yipee!!

Actually, this was only part of it. =P

From who this time? Detrivore Cosmetics! =)

Because I heard too much about them, so I decided to checked them out. What's interesting about this brand is that it is managed by two guys (if I'm not mistaken!). =D

And I got their famous "Shadow Primer" too!

I wasn't expecting it to be so buttery though! And I think this could last me forever!

See the size comparison with my own 5g jar.

Up to the rim!

I haven't really tried them yet but I think does wonders as described in the website.

Eye Shadow primer from Detrivore Cosmetics is soft and creamy. Just a tiny amount can help keep your shadow on all day. It is designed to help adhere loose eye shadow, glitters, and pigments. It is also somewhat water resistant, although not water proof.

The Eye Shadow Primer from Detrivore Cosmetics is safe and natural. This is a handmade formula that took months of effort, experiments, and research. I believe that my shadow primer is one of the best natural primers for sale. There will be imperfections because it is hand blended and poured. This is a list of the ingredients: Titanium Dioxide, Yellow Oxide, Mica, Glycerine, Castor Seed Oil, Cetyl Stearyl Alcohol, Olive Fruit Oil, Beeswax, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Gycine Soybean Lipids, Lauryl Saurate, Carnauba Wax, and Candillia Wax.

Here's some swatches that I've done by using the primer with their eyeshadow pigments.

I'll do a more in-depth review soon!

Til then, have a good day people. =D
