Wet N Wild MegaEyes® Crème Eyeliner - Black/Noir

November 30, 2009

Wet n' Wild is no strangers to most people. Even for myself, I don't really came across Wet n' Wild products other than nail polishes (when I was a teen back then).

Until recently this cream liner catches my attention from NonPareilBoutique's website.

It looks so cool right? These pics are taken from WnW's website.

I ordered mine from NonPareilBoutique and this is how it looks like..

Even though it comes in a "soft"-plastic kind of packaging, but it still does attracts me to it. :D

The back of the package..

Also printed with some foreign language that I don't understand. rolleyes

And if you are wondering about the brush that it comes with....

I actually loved the size of it.. but it is awfully scratchy. neutral

Here comes the UFO!! hahaha

I read from somewhere that these gel liner should be kept upside-down so that it won't dried up.. so I supposed WnW designed it this way?? Hmm..

LIB - Liner in Black :P

I didn't use the brush because it was pretty stiff.. so here's my MAC 209 brush..

The swatch..

The Product: 3.8g
Price : $3.99 <------- AFFORDABLE CAN!!!
Where I got it from: Nonpareilboutique.com

Description from the WnW:
Soft smoldering eyes are yours with wet n wild MegaEyes Crème Eyeliner. This innovative liner, which also doubles as an eyeshadow: creates a glamorous cat eye or soft subtle effect in a snap. Applies effortlessly as it delivers long-lasting drama with a velvety finish. Comes with an easy-to-use, conveniently-sized brush.

Features of it:
  • Versatile alternative to pencils and liquid liners
  • Smooth, blendable formula doubles as an eyeshadow
  • Creates a soft daytime look or precise evening look
  • Precision of a liquid liner with a silkier, softer finish that lasts
  • Specially designed brush allows for mistake-proof application

Here's me wearing them...

Hmm.. my thick lids is killing the liner!!! :D Here's another one...

My thoughts about it:
I'm loving it!! Previously, I did reviewed about my Coastal Scents gel liner and raved about how smooth it goes onto the lid, but this one is even smoother than that!! The texture is so soft until my brush can make several "pathways" and "potholes" in the cream liner .mrgreen The cream liner also dries up pretty quickly upon application. I have also worn the liner to work and the cream liner never smudges on my lids after wearing them for more than 8 hours. It does not smell weird unlike my Kate gel liner... and best of it, this is super AFFORDABLE!!!

Cons?
- Only two colors available - black and eggplant.
- Not available in Malaysia (boringgggg!!)
- Because the cream liner is so buttery smooth, it can "over-create" the line (became too thick...). Have to control the hand pressure when drawing.. :)

If you can get your hands on them, please do so!!And do let me know what do you think about them too! ;)

Here's the ingredient list that I can get hold of..

Will I re-purchased it? YES!! and I already bought a back up of it.... hahaha twisted

MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation SPF 15

November 23, 2009

I know I know, I'm just a bit left out from the current future. Haha. But I'm doing this with a little twist here.. comparing against my L'egere BB cream.

However, is this replaceable? Absolutely!! - for me lah.. mrgreen

Product pic...

Squeezable tube, and very convinient too!

See the mousse-like foundation? It's not like those hair mousse type of texture though..

Spreading on my fingers..

It does look a little like whipped cream too!

sigh, my photos.. look so weird here...

Under direct sunlight..

Anyway, my color is the same as Jenn @ Lipglosseater. :D NW20

The Product: 40ml
Price : RM120

From MAC's website:
A creamy, luxurious, gel-based foundation that provides medium buildable to high coverage with a natural satin finish. Hydrating, instantly revitalizes the skin while keeping it looking smooth, soft and plush. Long-wearing, water-resistant.

Before I tell you my thoughts.. here's how it works on my skin.

*I only apply one layer here*

Here's my thoughts:
  1. Coverage: Medium, but this can buildable if you can tolerate the texture of this foundation.
  2. Texture: From the website, it points out that it's gel based, but for me, it feels more like cream + mousse. It's thick and it's not easy to blend as well. Also, if you have L'egere BB cream, this is much more thicker in terms of it's consistency.
  3. Effect of this foundation: Dewy. Matte doesn't come into the picture even if a setting powder is used.
  4. Scent: Coffee!! I don't know why but it does feel a little like coffee.. just a slight coffee smell to it.. (btw, I'm not a kopi-fan here..)
If you do watch 女人我最大 program, Kevin did mentioned that this foundation gives a Q10 effect (lifting effect) of the face.. by achieving this, he did also mentioned that you have to use this with a MAC brush that comes out with this collection - MAC 191 foundation brush (see below).

*191 brush is the 3rd product - square-shaped synthetic-fibre brush*

So, I'm putting a test to see whether there's any Q10 a not. Please excuse the bloated face. rolleyes

* got ar? * I have no 191 brush but I did use my 190 brush to blend the foundation in.

BTW, I also do feel that it's better to use a brush to blend this foundation because the creamy mousse foundation doesn't really work well with my fingers..

Now here comes the interesting part.. I'll show you how L'egere and MAC's SSF works for me..

Any difference? Or maybe it's because of the direct sunlight.. it doesn't help much..

Here's a photo that do show that my MAC SSF shows a slight different between L'egere BB cream.

It has a darker pink undertone with it. L'egere BB cream fitted much better to my skin here... Texture wise, I do feel that L'egere BB cream is not so creamy like MAC SSF and it does spread a little easier than MAC SSF as well.

Anyway, both MAC SSF and L'egere BB cream gives the same coverage but different in terms of price.

Would I re-purchase it? Well, maybe not ... sorry MAC!

BTW, if you are looking for other's opinion about it, do check out these blogger's review too!

ELF Studio Complexion Brush and ELF Eye Shadow Brush Review

November 14, 2009

**Warning: This is a seriously backdated post of my ELF haul in May'09 ** mrgreen

Yeah! Spot on! My ELF brushes, again (I bought ELF again 2 weeks later after my first haul) ! Nothing but brushes. I'm a "kiasu-er", I bought these and they are all my backups except for my complexion brush. twisted Here's my previous haul about them >> ELF Haul 1

I know this is nothing much to shout about as I believed you may see many bloggers had already talk about these cheap + super affordable brushes. I should be talking about Christmas and Holiday collections but still I'm sticking with this ELF ELF ELF... **piff** (I don't care anyway, huhu! vain, I know cool)

I got this from a spreer in LYN but I seriously don't remember who is the person who help me with it. *soweee* I can't remember historical hauls coz I only have 80GB memory in my head.. ahh.. watever! hahaha :)

See how ELF packaged their brushes? Quite professional looking right? If you look at other brands, they only came with some thin plastic cover..

Let's talk about the normal line of brushes that I got - ELF eyeshadow brush.

This eyeshadow brush came with a hard plastic cover without a brush guard (unlike those studio brushes). But it's only $1, so WTH (LOL!).

They even explained what this brush does behind the cover!

The real thing!

With silver-engraved wordings.

Size comparison.

Side view.

Front view.

See how dense this is!

Believed it or not, this pick up any eyeshadow (powder eyeshadow, please!) like a charm.

The Product: ELF Eye Shadow Brush

From ELF website:
Specially sheered brush tip absorbs the perfect amount of eye shadow and provides long lasting color saturation. The comfort curved brush contours the eye with natural gliding strokes for easy and accurate eye shadow application.

All e.l.f. professional makeup brushes have been designed and tested by professional makeup artist Scott Vincent Borba. Each brush has been ergonomically designed to fit perfectly into your hand and facilitate a flawless finish with every application.

Price: $1
Made in: China

My thoughts about it:
I don't really like it. confused I know many bloggers raved and raved about this brush, but for me, I feel that it is too dense and it sort-of "scratching" my eyelids when I apply the eyeshadows with this. This brush is not synthetic and I have no idea what it is made of as well. neutral However, it does pick up the right amount of eyeshadows and if you just pat it onto your lids, it does really do a great job. But blending wise, I don't fancy them.

Cons?
Too scratchy. I think the synthetic version (Studio line Eyeshadow "C" brush) might not be so scratchy as this one but I don't think I can comment further since I haven't use them yet. Also, the bristles kinda frays a little bit after a few uses as well.

But seriously, $1 for this brush and I cannot be complaining that much!! mrgreen Sorry ELF.

Overall, it does a good job on applying eyeshadows. But for blending, it's another thing already. :)

xxxxx

Next up, the ELF Studio Line Brushes - Complexion Brush.

I really like ELF's packaging of these brushes. These brushes came with a plastic kind of brush guard.

I have to confess, this is my FAVORITE brush for now.

I used to rave and rave about my ELF Studio powder brush, but when I finally got the idea of using this complexion brush, I immediately "jump ship" (as in changing my preference, LOL!).

See how softttttttt this is! After many months of using them, it is still so soft and they never shed nor bleed like my other brushes!

I straight away give5 honorable stars for the complexion brush!

he Product: ELF Studio Complexion Brush
Price: $3
Made in: China

From the website:

This new anti bacterial, synthetic haired Taklon brush is softer and more absorbent and can be used with wet or dry products. Be a professional makeup artist and create a flawless look with this e.l.f. studio brush!
-Creates an even and natural finish
-Expertly sweeps all types of powders across the entire face and sculpts features beautifully
-Use with pressed, loose, or translucent powders, blush or bronzer
*Vegan Friendly

Dip brush into powder and tap off excess. Apply all over face or wherever needed for additional coverage or color.

My thoughts about it:
Like I said, I love it! Initially, I didn't know what to do with it. I tried using this for my blusher and highlighter, and the way this brush work with them are horrible (Or maybe I'm horrible with it :P). Then out of nowhere, I used this with my loose powder, and it works perfectly! And this is when I fell in love with it(ok, i gotta end my love story here).

I'm not sure if it's a tactic, the way I use this brush is by patting it with the flat surface (not the tip of the bristles). First, I sort of use the flat surface to pick up my loose powder, then I "flick" the brush to take off the excess and then I pat the loose powder onto my face. It doesn't cake onto my foundation which makes the whole face "flawless & smooth". biggrin

Cons?
I'm not sure if this is me, but I find it hard to remove the foundation "stain" on the brush handle. rolleyes See below if you don't get what I meant.

This is when I first got my brush, it was sleek and nice.

After many months of using the brush....

Stain?!?!?!?! Or Mosses???!! Hmmmm............

I did try to "scrub" them off but still the stain stays there.. It doesn't bother me much, but the look of it is a little scary...

But overall, I heart this... even though it gave me free weird stains.... mrgreen Best of it, any brushes from ELF are super affordablecancry. You gotta have this even if you are a pro MUA, seriously!
